The Manchester United Thread

I never mentioned once he is a good passer or finisher, if you read what I said Dunc you would have seen that he would be a better player than the JONES role SAF created for Jonesy in the centre of the park! Jones is muck in the air

So I would prefer Fellaini in that role to Jones (even though Jones is good) he is better suited to playing fullback in my opinion! He is quick and is good at marking, not the best crosser of the ball though..

Inler or Benat would be a good addition however

I'm not even sure how to respond to this. The fact that you actually want someone to join because they have similar, but slightly better, attributes than a player who is playing out of position is quite baffling. Why would you sign Fellaini when there are so many better, cheaper and less cunty options. Also, that 'Jonesy' role doesn't need height, your CB's should be coming for the headers in that area. Look at the best players in that role in the modern day era, are any of them tall? No.

Wouldn't take Fellaini, would take Baines, but Evra's resurgence makes it less of a priority.

WHAT?

After arguing some 10 pages on Fellaini (with you and GC on we should sign Fellaini side) now you are saying we don't need him?

Come on Mike, I have changed my mind on him last season because of those long long posts and I want him at United. :D

that time of the month there dunc?

for ***** sake, I am saying I personally would like him, thats me and my opinion as I really like him!

as you can see from all of my other comments that I know he won't be the best player we can get, nor do we need him!

Mike and Dunc disagree with everything I say :) or most people for that matter.
they like to think that they are always right and always have to have the last say :)

I'd take him over Dembele without doubt (the was the main crux), I'd not take him at £25m! Fellaini is definitely better than no CM recruitment, he's a poor mans Vidal. But at 25m, I'd rather pick up Strootman and someone else.

Strootman + Lars bender (would have to throw in more cash imo) >>>>>>> Fellaini

So you don't need him, you don't think he's the best player you can get, yet you still want him, despite the fact that he would cost upwards of £20m? Righto.

I probably disagree with Mike more than anyone on most things, no need to cry when someone questions your opinions.

You only want him to sign so you can get a players name on the back of your shirt which relates to you on a personal level.

At least 60% of all football topics imo. And 100% on Cleverley

Sunil, the point is, I'd like to think we can do better with 25m than Fellaini.

Yeah Vidal is completely different class and there are rumors that Juve rejected 40 Million bid for him.

I remember you and GC saying Fellaini would be great addition (without me bringing Dembele into the equation) as he is a good tackler, plays simple passes and adds steel to the team. Tbh I don't mind him at ManUtd, he is a nasty ****** throwing elbows and all that stuff but he is also one of the very few players who can win physical battle against Yaya

Yeah. I agree. 25 Million is too much, we can surely do better for that money.

I just hope we scout other leagues as there are some great midfielders who can improve us and superb on the ball.

Yann M'Vila He's young strong and quick, not sure why he's not been picked up by a top team as he'd be ideal for switching between defense and attack.

Personally I like Fellaini, he's been pretty much consistent for Everton over the last few seasons but I do consider him as a big fish in a small pond and wonder how he'd cope being a small fish in a big pond.

So many people are already getting the wrong idea about thing on Twitter, so before the same happens in here:

'Manchester United player' hasn't been in Rooney's or Cleverley's bio for a while, they did some promotional stuff a while back, for Nike.

And, Fellaini has had 'Red Devils' in his bio for months, it's the nickname of their national team.

M'Vila has some attitude issues for sure. That's one of the reason why Wenger opted not to sign him and no one wanted him when he signed for Rubin for just 10Million.

So finally we have signed the DM we were talking about for years eh? :D

The problem is more and more that passing. There is only Carrick. What happens when he needs resting/injured/retired? Not like we can wheel out Scholes anymore. So for me, especially at 25m, that lack of ability is too much to go for Fellaini, unless we are totally rebuffed elsewhere. From what I hear, Strootman is there for the taking if we made an offer.

I' have no idea why we are suddenly comparing Carrick with Fellaini, surely they would play as a central midfield duo rather then taking turns as ball distributor.

I'm also not sure when Fellaini's physicial style had become a problem? Yes, he is a jackass, but he is a jackass that you want on your team. Every side needs at least one caveman, its the law. I could go down the list of every great team of last 20 years and find you one.

Its not like his role would be to play holywood passes from one box to another. His job would be to get his afro in people's face, pass simple ball to Carrick and add some extra threat during set pieces. Put him alongside with Carrick and it will work.

The only issue I have is that he would be pretty expensive for a player who is pretty good at what he does, but otherwise somewhat limited.

The point is that there is only Carrick, we ideally need someone who can compliment and cover him, and eventually replace him. 25m is far too much for a modern day cave man.
