The Manchester United Thread

Because we have clause(s) on him. Among them 50% of next transfer fee UNLESS he's sold back to us. He has release clause almost 200m, but for us it's somewhere around 30m.

We sold him for "peanuts" back then if you compare what we could've gotten in competive market. But it didn't mean we were robbed as we managed to squeeze those clauses on the contract mainly I think because Barca believed in him becoming even better player for them than he was for us.

Those clauses were released after the deal and were pretty widely reported.

I doubt it as if Barca sell him for 30 Million then Barca will be making a loss of 15 Million on a player.

I believe it's some % of the profit and not on the transfer fee.

Any links for the clauses?

While Barcelona believe the deal is worth no more than €40 million (£35 million), Arsenal value the transfer at almost £40 million after Fabregas agreed to waive a £4 million loyalty bonus.

Arsenal will receive €14.5 million up front, with another €14.5 million to be paid in October. A further €1 million will be released for each year of a contract that lasts until 2016.

Providing Fabregas wins one European Cup and two La Liga titles over the next five years, Arsenal will receive a further €6 million.

Although Barcelona have placed a huge buy-out clause of €200 million (£176 million) in Fabregas’s contract, they have agreed to give Arsenal first refusal should they eventually decide to sell.

If Arsenal were to refuse that option, they would still be entitled to half of Fabregas’s next transfer fee

It seems craig got there first, but I think they were desperate to get him and didn't think they'd ever sell him on so that's why they agreed on the clauses.

Hattrick by Cole. Januzaj seems very good prospect.
3rd goal was quality strike been impressed alot by cole, adnan, tunnicliffe tonight and defence has been solid. Glad to see fergie there maybe looking at some players for weekend:) Will be interesting who wins u21 award between adnan, thorpe, vermijl tomorrow night.

Lack of strikers at U21 level helped Januzaj a lot. His game has improved a lot since he started playing as a striker as he worked on his hold up play. His first season at U21 level and he looked very comfortable, not to forget he just turned 18 in the feb.

Hopefully goes on tour with squad in july and gets some game time next season, or maybe loan to hull or someone like that brucey would play him at least. Just been reading up about uniteds summer tour WOW its huge biggest in clubs history! hopefully all transfers will be done buy then ins & outs.

Not sure if he is ready for a PL loan. I think he will go on pre season tour and then will continue to play with U21s and might make a appearance in League cup.

Could be bit soon having just turned 18. just been reading article on moyes speech at a conference last night, saying he will be focusing very hard at bringing through young english players from the youth teams:) And had good idea about having FA set up system like spain so can have B teams in lower divisions to help get more younger tallents coming through.

fletch might also be back for pre-seson?
Would be very supprised would rather he wait till start of season and give himself as much time before then to get right , dout all that travelling would be good for him in such short space of time.

So, can any of you recommend good biography work on SAF? Reading online reviews on football books makes my brain melt, as its always bunch of people just going "legend, must read".

wondering if anyone knows where i can watch the saf interview with david frost?

Carrick wins players' player of the year at the United awards. Best not do a Tony on us next season now.

I feel this summer is going to be like that one after the 2006-07 title when we won it after 4 years and off Chelsea. The summer when we absolutely went mental in in the market. What was it? Anderson,Nani,Hargreaves and Tevez. Though I don't think we need 4 players but I have a feeling that we are going to sign 2 players who are going to be very integral to our team and also ensuring that our domestic domination isn't threatened by a mad portuguese or some billionaire owner.

RVP won sir matt busby award, pearson won u18s award and adnan won u21 award was very happy for carrick aswell!
