The Manchester United Thread

Would bidding officially a month ago left us in a better position? Almost certainly not. You're starting to sound like an Arsenal fan, it's only the 5th of July FFS

You don't get to the end of the transfer window you get to the 1st of August until his release clause goes back up to whatever it was in the first place which is way more than we'd pay for him currently.

Also I can be like how I want to be, United haven't signed a good midfielder in which literally seems like forever and a day when you have to put up with the likes of Anderson, Jones playing CM, Cleverley constantly injured and relying on Scholes for way beyond his use by date. The only good midfielder who has played consistently well we actually have had for the last probably 5 seasons has been Carrick.

And we've won 3 titles in those 5 seasons, stop seeing negatives in everything - we're champions of England, we have little to complain about. The transfer window has been open for 4 days, chill out. Sky are also reporting that the deal is close, and Moyes could even mention it later.

As Mike said, it isn't like FM, the key is what Thiago wants to do - the transfer of funds is a formality after that.

The bid is a formality. Worst case scenario Barcelona force us to pay about 22m. What matter is you know, actually convincing the player to join us?

A steal at that price anyway.

Transfer News: No offers for Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara

If this is true.. which wouldn't surprise me... doesn't this look all so familiar with United and signing midfielders. Thinking back to the ones we have already missed out on is enough for me to weep.

It doesn't matter whether we have made official bid, most important thing here is to agree deal with Thiago. He has a release clause so all ManUtd can do is pay the clause + Vat if necessary (as Graham Hunter said).

Also Barca don't want to sell and they have maintained from day 1 that Thiago has not informed them anything (which is not really believable tbh).

Btw, why do they even say that there was no official bid from ManUtd if we are not close to signing? They could have just avoided it. It's lot closer than we ever got with likes of Sneijder and Ozil IMO.

Maybe we sign him, maybe we don't. But the official bid is the least of the issues involved.

Looking forward to the Thiago deal not going through, got my popcorn ready for all the rage and despair.

Neymar is Barcelona's new number 11, which is Thiago's number. I'm taking this as confirmation.

Is there live stream for conference? I can't see anything on official site.

well with the team you like i should think know a **** of a lot about despair

Wait, of the two teams I support, one has been promoted to the Prem and the other's signed 6 players and kept hold of the best striker in the Prem. What would I know of dispair?

Also be nice, it's my birthday.

a cool signing for united would be Gundogan would love to see more of him

Why would he go to United, he's already at a bigger club. ^^)
