The Manchester United Thread

bale aint a bigger name than neymar imo however i get what your saying i still think they might come in for suarez

He will be if they pay 100m+ for him.

He did more than one good cross, got to blame strikers partly. I only watched the last 20 mins and he was our best player. He did some good crosses one of which RVP should of scored with.
Ok, if you think so.

What? Madrid never really had a shot for Neymar, he is as Catalan as it gets.

Considering he said companies, I very much doubt it's to do with Rooney

Congrats Mike. You have now played against the finest and most important club in the world and got 1-1. Can't think of many teams being able to match us like you did.

I don't thin we will be seeing Ronaldo at United this season as I think that the biggest thing that Ronaldo valued at United was Fergie as he truly sculpted Ronaldo into the player he is today and without Fergie a big attraction is missing for Ronaldo if he returned. But if Ronaldo is forced to play another position at Real we may have a chance, at least that is my belief. Of course this depends on the contract he may or may not sign.

However the fact that Bale is about to be signed by a 100 million £££'s after one great season after a couple of decent ones is pretty **** stupid in all honesty. I mean 80 mill for Ronaldo after lighting up the Prem for a few years was an exorbitant fee at the time. Bale is good yeah, **** worth that much money? No ****** way. Being a British player though may have a factor in the fee as all ****** British (well English normally but you know what I mean) players demand inflated prices anyway ( Caroll, Allen, Young, etc...).

I doubt he will be forced to change positions. Should they sign Bale, he will play wide right as opposed to Di María. Ronaldo stays wide left. Isco/Özil/potentially Modric in the centre.

As for signing a new contract, even if he doesn't sign it, there is still enough time after this window for negotiations to re-open and therefore tie his future down to the club. It's all still up in the air but far from unlikely.

Seems a bit dead on the transfer front does it not? Hope we're not resorting to Fellaini (even though he would improve our midfield, no offence ajt). :P

Fellaini is a good signing. What matters is if he's the only one.

He'd be a good start. You'd definitely need more than just him though.

I'm more frustrated at that we didn't provoke more interest in Kevin Strootman, and now he has left for AS Roma. And I would be happy for us to sign Fellaini, many were prior to Thiago and Fábregas anyway. Disappointment is understandable.

Well considering we didn't even go for Thiago either makes it extremely disheartening.

I assume DM wants to sign premier league proven midfielder. Though I am really sorry we haven't approached Thiago and Strootman. There's a very good chance they'll be future stars.

Don't get me wrong folks, Fellaini wouldn't be a bad buy at all, infact he would add some much needed bite to the midfield as well. But my only query is... if Moyes actually wanted him why wouldn't he have him signed up long before now because Everton will apparently only sell for his release clause... therefore I don't see why he would wait until now.

He [Strootman] told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Did Manchester United and AC Milan approach me? Only Roma came forward seriously for me and I liked their project. Rudi Garcia called me and convinced me to make the move, and I'm happy to be here."

He was probably trying for other targets, in this case Fabregas. Bit of a kick in the teeth for old Marouane.

Exactly..... not to mention.... Fabregas and Fellaini are not exactly anything like the same players... so that wouldn't really make sense.

They don't have to be. But I'm sure now Fellaini will not like the idea of having dropped down a few pegs to third/fourth choice. May want to stay for another season, which would be yet another blow.

Well no, but you go for the best available CM and then build around them. Either Fabregas or Fellaini would work, but in different ways.

Capoue had joined Spurs, which is one of the players which I think would improve our midfield problem by quite a bit. Am not exactly sure what Moyes is planning for the new season but if he thinks that our current team is good enough to challenge for the league title he is in for a rude awakening. All our main rivals had strengthened and we had not. Even Spurs looks vastly improved compared to last year and our midfield is not even comparable to theirs. I'd say 2-3 notches below.

Not to mention that the farcical pursuit of Cesc had left all our potential targets with a bitter taste in their mouth, knowing that we are only approaching them because they are our second choice. I have absolutely no idea why would we publicly announce that we are chasing Fabregas and made a big news out of it every time we bid.

WOW man utds midfield has been poor for years apparently yet they keep winning titles and now they are not even good enough to challenge for the title? the same team that ran away with it last year?
