The Manchester United Thread

Come on mate, I'm not even a Utd fan but if you guys let Moyes get into a groove, grow in confidence and motivate the players as he can, then you guys are going to be a force. Your side isn't particulary good at the moment beyond central defence and the first choice strikers, so he's still working out the balance. Perhaps you're a little too used to success, to realise that every other club in the division is allowed to win against you too and they're trying just as hard as ever, especially considering SAF has gone and they want that scalp. Take it on the chin, accept you probably need 2-3 years of transition to buy players and get them playing how they need to, and then I expect more titles to come.

Plus it's very unlikely that the side will fail to achieve top 4 this season, so I wouldn't be too worried.

I realise Fellaini is a decent player, but I do think he made Everton pretty predictable, and he's quite petulant as a player and tends to give away a lot of FKs and slows the game down around him. Perhaps the introduction of Lukaku and McCarthy, and improving the quality of the first XI and bench will help push them into a European spot without the 'long ball to Fellani, knock down to Jelavic' route which was running out of steam.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, Fell definately has some issues re: discipline. Number of times he gave away dangerous free kicks was just infuriating. But he also had the ability to cause some major problems up front, and when in the DM role have solid cover. Good thing is he's only 25 so he can still build.

Re: Lukaku I think he definately adds something to the attack. when you watched the West Ham game, when he came on, he scared the opposition. you could see them backing off, which gave us space in other areas. With that sort of presence creating space it'll increase our goalscoring oppurtunities. And I like McCarthy aswell-he's a very solid midfielder imo.

I dont mind losing that much (I do actually but bear with me). What I mind is losing while being unispired, lacking any sort of desire or fight and boring. This is what we have mostly been so far this season ...

Im actually old enough to have lived during most of the barren seasons before 1993 and I dont wanna go back to them ...

Regarding Moyes' motivation potential, interesting article ahoy at football365:

Moyes Has Nothing To Shout About | John Nicholson

Ahh, Liverpool the bastions of footballing credibility. At least Moyes publicly slated his player for diving, rather than firing up the T-shirt press.

And boo the player who was the victim of racial abuse. *shouldn't have gone there*

Fabregas, Alcantara and Herrera must be pleased with themselves right now.

I bet Herrera is very pleased for not playing for United, instead playing for the club who will never win the league in his life time. Yeah, I bet Rooney is pleased too for not joining Chelsea after their show against Everton and Basel.

For the game against Liverpool, Moyes has no excuse for not starting Kagawa and Nani. Both are not fit and need games, home game in the league cup and they should start and play whole 90 mins. If Valencia and Young starts again then I really worry about Moyes as a Manager of ManUtd. It's clear for everyone that Young is no where near first choice quality and Valencia has been poor forever. No wonder we lack any creativity, on the other hand we have Nani who creates so many chances and Kagawa who can link up play better than them.

Fellaini is cup tied so hopefully it will be either Anderson or Cleverley next to Carrick.

Team I would love to see,

De Gea

Rafael Evans/Smalling Vidic Fabio

Carrick Cleverley/Anderson

Nani Rooney Kagawa

Hernandez

Or Rooney rested with Kagawa playing behind the striker and Januzaj as LW

Very good points made. My only issue is that its been said (mainly by KLOPP who knows him best and himself) that KAGAWA's best position is in the "hole" behind the cf (indeed the position where he was so brilliant for Dortmund). So Id suggest the following:

De Gea

Rafael Evans Vidic Evra/Fabio

Carrick/Anderson Fellaini

Nani Kagawa Valencia

Rooney

The only problem with this XI would be Valencia who's been **** for more than a season now but at least he tracks back ... oh, sorry we used to be able to at least say that about him but yesterday he didnt even do that.

Zaha/ Januzaj look like good alternatives but maybe they re too raw for derbies...

It's fine, WBA soon so Moyes will be on his way out if they don't win.

Not really sure why Man Utd fans thinks top 4 is in the bag. With the way Arsenal is playing after acquiring Ozil, Man City + Chelsea the surefire top 4 candidates and even Liverpool (who beat us convincingly) + Tottenham, I don't see a chance of us ending anywhere near top 4 unless we starts buckling up. Our performances thus far had been far from convincing.

And I fail to understand why would Moyes keep insisting on Young? He had been absolute garbage for a long time but gets much more game time then Kagawa. I don't really know the reason of Moyes not playing him but surely, Young's performances thus far does not guarantee him a place in the starting eleven? And Chicharito barely gets any chance to play at all. I'm totally baffled by Moyes' team selection thus far and I hope this would not keep on. I know that the team is in its transition period but that does not mean we can afford to play players that doesn't even perform.

Just made a bet that we'll win tomorrow with handicap. On 10e, I should get 28e.

I await the day that a United fan defends their acts, rather than compare it to something Liverpool has done. At least that's one thing we'll always have in common, we both talk(and sing) about Liverpool.

Oh the irony. If you haven't notice, you're on Man United thread.

Also, Giggs and Jones for dynamic midfield against Liverpool, as well Buttner and Smalling for their defensive qualities. At least Moyes gave Young some rest so he can play next game.

I'm talking about Manchester United in a Manchester United thread, vanjag.

No second guesses for who's just dived!
Well, yes. That the point. That something you have in common with United fans ;)

Good to see our second choice players and players needing match fitness doing their job against full strength Liverpool side bar Johnson and Coutinho.

Not sure which choice Giggs and Jones pairing is though.
