The Manchester United Thread

Anyone fancy a wager on Fellaini to concede a free kick in a dangerous position? ;)

Fellaini will either be an absolute disaster or will be incredible tonight. Not sure which one though. Don't think he'll be anything more than an extreme at either end of the effectiveness scale.

So, can someone say what is Moyes' game plan? It's been almost half a season and I still haven't got a clue.

For ***** sake. Moyes must go. He clearly isn't big enought to manage united. 8th in the league is shocking. Get him gone.

Alex Ferguson joined Manchester United from Aberdeen F.C. on 6 November 1986, the same day that previous manager Ron Atkinson was dismissed, and immediately set about rebuilding the club's youth system.[1][18] In Ferguson's first game in charge, the team lost 2–0 to Oxford United; his first victory came on 22 November 1986, a 1–0 defeat of Queen's Park Rangers at Old Trafford. On Boxing Day 1986, the team beat Liverpool 1–0 at Anfield – the club's only away league win in a season that saw it finish 11th in the First Division.

Get Everton above United? That seems like what he's trying to do...

Calm down, it's only December. He's got some good results recently, although his management of the team has generally been quite poor. Still, there's no need to sack him this early, it would be a rash and financially-stupid decision, not to mention it would affect the team!

Martinez did it first time, when in 46 attempts Moyes failed at winning at Old Trafford.

Quite a stat indeed.

Not even half way through a season and people want him gone already? Seriously? Utd are renowned for pulling off miracles and coming back. Anything can happen as we've all witnessed in the Prem time and time again. How many times have opposing teams imploded and thrown away their positions in league? You cannot expect success all the time for goodness sake. Teams have **** runs in a league-there is not one club exempt from that-fact. Deal with it. Besides, you're only 5 points of 2nd for crying out loud.

I must admit i have been backing Moyes for weeks and believe he deserves time but....... My opinion was based on the fact that this is a transition time for Utd and the minimum they need this season is Champions League football for next season. And that does look unlikely at this point. Having said that it is still very early days.

Congrats to Everton though, brilliant victory.

It would take a lot of imploding as there are 8 teams above us.

It would be foolish to expect to win the title in Moyes first season in charge. Next season yes, but there's going to be bumps in the road like we've seen before. We're still adjusting ourselves-the players have admitted it themselves. The main aim should be CL this season, and a a cup run maybe with a cup win. But to call for his head this early in the first season in charge is absolutely foolhardy, and does nothing for the stability of a club

Yea, that all good and I agree. But as you're Everton fan, 3 things.
1) Congratz on win.
2) What's Moyes play style? He's been in Everton for 11 years, maybe you can give me something.
3) We never settled for second best. For us it's not 5 points off second ( actually is 8 points), but 12 points of first on the table.

every 1 need to just chill ok thing are not going well at the mo but nither did saf get off to a good start and he did not do to bad just give it time

Depends. Last season we saw a different approach with nice crisp passing, good fluid movement etc. Prior to that it was more physical approach. Energetic players, high pressing and hassling opponents to get the ball back, stubborn defence which we all saw, was extremely hard to break down. At times it was a cautious style aswell. But it was hard at times to maintain as half the time we were decimated by injuries half the time. But it's irrelevant.

DM has said you don't change Man Utds style-it changes you. So he's not looking to change Utd's style, but he's still adjusting to what's available right now. Utd lack the players to properly go at games in the proper United way so Moyes is making do with what he has, much like Fergie did towards the end

Ok, so basically he was surviving at Everton. I have feeling he's doing it here at United. Our players might be our of form/not good enough, but still I would like to see some foundations, not just bare survival. Even SAF set foundations in his first season where he was 'poor'.

Another thing to remember is, we had some very ungrateful "fans" who were also causing trouble behind the scenes, and making life extremely difficult. He was in a no-win situation a lot of the time towards the end-even when he did try to change things. If there's one thing I've noticed at times, Utd fans are lot more patient than some of the noobs that "support" Everton. I've been having a look at Utd forums, and they seem to be acting sensible and patient majority of the time which is good to see. And don't forget, there's a transfer window looming aswell. DM isn't stupid, and can easily recognise Utds strengths and weaknesses, just like Fergie.

I still remember when he played a strikerless formation against City - that was pretty hilarious to be honest! In a weird way, though, it kind of epitomised his tactical style - win-at-all-costs.

Yep, Moyes seems like intelligent manager, he's learning quick how to handle big club. Also, United fans are the worse:

Odd-was on there only a few moments ago. Oh well. Like to think the majority are more sensible though (for some reason I can't view the pages which is strange-the previous ones I could :/ )
