The Manchester United Thread

Moyes = Useless, I thought he made a step forward by at least not telling the press about our dealings/interested signings in this window, unlike last summer. But then he ****** says we were after De Rossi last summer as well..... what a joke he is to this club, ended up with ****** Fellaini (lets not forget... we ended up paying more for him as well due to not matching his release clause earlier in the window) and could of got De Rossi at the start of the window... laughing stock.

Oh and Fabio Coentrao, anyone remember this guy... the one who fell through last minute on deadline day for us last summer? Well how-come he won't sign him now... world cup year... made something like 2 starts this year for Madrid and is reportedly wanting to leave anyway due to world cup year and all. Meanwhile we're stuck with the useless Evra, but he now won't do it?

I thought Fergie was stubborn.... but Moyes is another level, he lacks top level know-how and I am really annoyed with him.

If we don't sign anyone in this window does he really think he will make it through to the end of the season the way we're playing? I think he's gone if no top 4. But buying in the summer will be very hard as well, world cup and all, inflated prices, ed woodward....

Got to agree, club should make every effort to strengthen in this window. Post World-cup window is always tough, and if you also don't make CL, it can **** you up for good few years before you can rebuild.

Sigh.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Well done on falling for the headlines. First you complain that he overplayed up what we would to in the summer, now you complain that he underplays what we will do in january. Newsflash, what gets said doesn't matter. Also we KNEW that already about De Rossi. The issue was that De Rossi set a very early deadline about leaving, and the truth is that he would rather not have left. That's what the De Rossi quotes were about, he would have been devastated about missing Roma's title challenge.

Agreed, but that comes down to what you do, and not what you say. We do need to upgrade (wont be easy). But it doesn't matter what he says we're going to do, it matters what we actually do.

The rest of this post is completely valid, but I'm pretty sure zzeezzy wasn't complaining about Moyes underplaying, or not mentioning, what he'll do in January - he was saying that it was a step forward.

And how bad is missing out on Top 4 for a season? Chelsea have been fortunate, as when they have done it, they have got Abramovich's money enticing players, but how bad would it be for United? Would it be worse than losing the stability at the club by sacking Moyes?

My point wasn't that, you seem to miss the fact that we missed out on several exceptional players in the summer one of them being De Rossi. Doesn't matter how you look at it, he would of been the perfect buy for us and it's quite obvious Fellaini was never a priority hence the total mess up and rushing it through on deadline day. You don't hang around when De Rossi becomes available, you swoop in and get him.

Moyes quotes are on sky sports as well, it's clear he's playing everything down and I actually think we'll all be here at the end of window with a load of excuses about why we couldn't get anyone in.

But it's going to be no easier in the summer, if you are aiming for any decent kind of calibre player....

Missing out on top 4 and Moyes should be gone, no exceptions, I don't buy this whole transition thing and comparing it to Fergie. When Fergie joined United weren't league champions etc etc etc.

Financially could suck up a year, target wise who knows tbh. There are a number of key players that wouldnt be put off by lack of CL, but then really we should be targeting said players this window (Cabaye, Rakitic, Matic etc)

So like I said, you are hammering him for downplaying the window, after hammering him for playing up the previous window We missed out on 2 exceptional players. Like that's never happened before.... mainly because we very rarely ever buy an exceptional player.

He wont' be gone. Whether you dont buy it or not is irrelevant, its staring you in the face. If you don't think a transition exists right now looking at the squad and change of manager, no offence but you're being ridiculous.

If De Rossi is 25 you throw all the money in the world at him, if De Rossi is 30 you need to consider your other high priority targets. I love De Rossi, but I'd sign someone like Rakitic before him.

I'd have though Vidal would be the perfect buy, since he has about 7 years in front of him. It's not just new players here, we're talking a changing of the guard here. A lot of big players are past 30 in our side. Rio, Vidic, Evra, RVP, Carrick, Giggs. Only RVP and Carrick are certainties next year. If you dont think replacing that level of "United" is not transition, then what the **** is?

Yeah but said key players could also easily slip away if a CL club in a top league becomes interested in them, for instance I am sure Chelsea will be very interested in buying back Matic in the summer and Arsenal have been interested in Cabaye ... In essence, it's a dangerous game to miss out on CL. It could very easily lead to a disaster that could take years to rebuild and allow United to get back to the level they are now. Again I am not saying this will happen before someone jumps on my back about proclaiming the end of United but it could

So what? Many clubs have changed managers and it certainly as effected them hasn't it? Chelsea - Mourinho, Everton - Martinez, Man City - Pellegrini, Southampton - Pochettino (Ok I know he's been there a few seasons but it was smooth transition).

Then going in to Europe... Bayern - Pep.... Real Madrid - Ancelotti...... Barca - Martino.

This squad were not only league champions last year but remember the margin? Also when you have players like De Gea, Rooney, RVP, Vidic, Rafael etc. you can hardly make an excuse for the big down-fall. The biggest problem has been his tactics, not adventurous enough until it's too late, take Tottenham the other day.

Oh and lets not forget this has been the most open Premier League in years, with loads of teams in the mix throughout the table, if there was a clinical Man City or Arsenal or Chelsea we would be more behind than we are now.

I'm not looking for an argument or anything, but you lot did miss out on Champions League a few seasons back, and you seem to be doing fine. Maybe it's different because you're banked by an oligarch, but I don't think a single season would make too much of a difference - only if they miss out on Top 4 for two or more seasons in a row.

It depends on who your targets are and who is interested, and how quickly you think you can reclaim it. But like I said, these are players I would chase this window, or have deals agreed for a least one now for the summer.

To be fair, it's a bit unfair to blame Moyes for the Tottenham loss as that was a howler of a game by Howard Webb
