The Manchester United Thread

Ok, now you are talking ****, if you think Newcastle are suddenly a rival club. I've long wondered if you have just been trolling, and now I really think you are.

Maybe I used the word 'rival club' wrongly but they do have a legitimate chance of finishing higher than you in the league so why would they sell arguably their best midfielder to a team right above them?

Umm, that's why he hasn't been offered a deal yet, because hes demanding a pay raise with his extension....We're about to get rid of Anderson, and you want him replaced with Guarin.... give me strength

A deal with Inter or Chelsea?

Bold part is absolute nonsense.

Ever Banega is not moved to bigger club because of his attitude issues and nothing wrong with this game. You are assuming there is something wrong because he isn't moved?

Kovacic improves us. Simple and he is a player with plenty of potential. Will go on to become a gem of a player.

Why is it nonsense? Fair enough on the Banega's part ... I just felt that he was good enough, he would have moved by now. Had no idea about his attitude problems although that's hardly that big a detriment to be fair. Clubs are still falling over themselves to sign Costa and he is the biggest douchebag their is

And that's how Chelsea ended up with Demba Ba. Useful player but not good enough for a big team (tbh I thought he was good enough back then).

Scored some important goals. Hasn't been great but hasn't exactly been awful

I don't think his wages will be all that high tbh

In Italy wages are published NET wages. Rumor is Guarin is asking for 4 Million Euro Net, that's around 120-140K per week if my calculations are correct.

I heard that rumour too ... So no idea what to believe but I don't think he will let wages come in the way of a move to a genuinely major club like United or Chelsea

Saying Newcastle as our rivals for league position is non sense. They might finish above us this year but in a long run? No way. Did you consider Newcastle as your rivals when they finished above Chelsea? I'm sure every chelsea fan knew it was one off season.

And now you couldn't offload him. It's all good for a team funded by a rich owner but for a team that works hard for it's penny, wages are very important.

You completely missed the point. Can you get Cabaye in the summer? Possibly. Can you get him in the January? Probably not since Newcastle have a legitimate chance of finishing higher than you and likely won't sell ther best midfielder right now to a club right above them in the race to European spots

Acttually we could. You know who wanted him? Arsenal ... We just didn't want to loan/sell to a rival club

So we don't have a chance of signing Cabaye if they finish above us? Ok.

And about Ba, Arsenal wanted him on loan only. He is a decent player but not someone for a club aiming to win them all. That's my point. It was a panic but simple as that.

Sorry switch the words 'January' and 'summer' around ... Apologies there

Edit: fixed the above post

I do think Banega could be a good buy for Manchester United right now. He is better at moving with the ball than probably any of the current CMs at the club (imo). As long as he doesn't run himself over again or anything....Or get on webcam...

Marchisio would also be a good purchase for the right price, hard worker and pretty decent all round. Not getting as much game time now due to being up against Pogba, Pirlo and Vidal, which is understandable with that quality.

Guarin is not good enough to be a starter for Manchester United for me. Inconsistent is very much a word for him. Good dribbler at times but a lot of the time doesn't really know what he is going to do with it once he has started.

Seems like Anderson may be leaving too, I had high hopes when he was first signed but he never really progressed. Shows signs of being very good at times but never often enough. I think he will do well once he goes to a club where he is more of a main focus though

Yeah shame that Anderson never fulfilled his potential. His luck with injuries is brutal.

Yeah I always wanted him to do well. A few games he was top class but he could never get a decent run of form up between injuries. Also the weight thing and being in Brazil partying or whatever that story was can't of helped! Same with his car smash :S Still young enough to move on and hopefully do well again though.

Yeah, as much as I like him probably change of clubs might help him. Also Fiorentina plays very nice football so one more reason to watch them. Used to watch them to watch Ljajic after that Rossi now maybe Anderson.

On FM I sold him to Shakhtar. IRL I could imagine him doing well there with all the Brazilian players they get playing so well.

But yeah Fiorentina would be able to give him more playing time, I still feel he can do very well

Well both, really. Give a player, like Marchisio, enough money and he may well consider his current position and go elsewhere.

Depends on how much more though ... You don't want to end up overpaying especially in the FFP era although that might be what United may have to do if they fail to get Top 4

Money still talks though.

In terms of what? Wages or Transfer fees?

Good God, please never ever try to be journalist if even you try to become one.

What silly questions. transfer fee or wages? How much more wages..

FFS, everyone knows if you thrown enough money you can buy most of the players and it has been proved by at least 2 English clubs, 2 french clubs.

How is it silly? It was a genuine question ... Are you trying to tempt a club who aren't prepared to sell with a high transfer fee (eg. Newcastle with Cabaye) or a player who doesn't want to move with high wages even if his club agrees to sell (eg. Zouma)?

And yes it's all relative. Today if I offer Player X 110k p/w, that is still 'enough money' by your standards but if he already earns 100k p/w then would he really want to move countries or leagues or clubs for that piddly 10k with all other variables constant? Hardly

If you offer 200k p/w then obviously the story is different. And sorry I am not a journalist and neither am I world-class scout like you. Apologies for just being the average football fan

When he said money talks it's so obvious it was in terms of Transfers, wages and agent fee and it's also obvious you have to tempt player with bigger wages than he is on.
