The Manchester United Thread

I think it was a panic buy of the highest order, he's not a typical United player and nothing has shown me he is in his first playing spell for the club. However this wrist injury he was apparently playing through and maybe some other back problems could of perhaps been a reason.

Better to judge him when he comes back this time, but I'm really not convinced by him and to pay what we did was ludicrous in itself considering no one even bought out his release clause.

It's utterly sickening if we don't buy someone this window for midfield, I honestly think Moyes has been really stupid again this window, seen scouting impossible targets unless we pay humungous fee and salary, even if it's for the summer. Like looking at Juventus the other day, realistically it was Pogba or Vidal. Both I can't see happening in a million years. Oh and why the **** do you need to scout top players in person? Is that totally necessary?

Why can't we take an option like Cabaye1, Rakitic2, Pjanic3 or even Lallana4. They may not be in the truely golden world-class bracket but one of them alone would have a huge impact on our midfield. Out of all of them I'd like Pjanic or Cabaye. It's always same old same old, go after the very unlikely targets, end up getting nowhere and then realise you still have the same problem if not more.

Obviously the ideal one is Gundogan, but I can't see us wrapping that up this window without other clubs having a say.

1) Squad player. Nothing more. Gladly would have him as cover for Carrick.
2) No thanks. Lazy player with bad attitude.
3) Attacking mid. Also mediocre player who wouldn't improve us at all.
4) See 3)

We've been over this at least three times, it was a panic buy.

In fact I just went to Wikipedia to look up definition of panic buy and it just says "when Fellaini went to United".

I really believe Fellaini will become very good player for us. He had back injury too along with Wrist injury so that was holding him back, at least back injury will.

He is not slow as many ManUtd says, it's just that his acceleration is bit low. Hopefully with his back injury sorted he can play to his full potential.

Certainly. United overpaid for him and he was a panic buy, but that doesn't mean he isn't quality. He should come good eventually, and when he does United will have a very valuable player.

Doesn't really matter if it was a panic buy now, does it? Also, why is he 'not a typical United player'? What does that even MEAN? Maybe he's not a typical United player 'cause he's an actual central midfielder...

Are you really criticising Moyes for not just letting his scouts do the work and putting in extra time to see for himself the prospective purchases?

****, if Fergie did that more often you wouldn't have got Bebe.

I'll ignore all posts above me trying to argue a case that Cabaye/Lallana/Pjanic/Rakitic wouldn't improve our midfield, lol, Cleverley over one of them? Oh and people trying to say Fellaini wasn't a panic buy..... lol.

You can't really expect me to take Moyes scouting that serious considering the **** up's he's made so far? Can you?

If Fellaini was that much of a target why was the release clause not met, oh and don't give me the Fabregas or Thiago excuse like someone else mentioned a while back. Infact if you do bring up that then it highlights the panic buy even more.

Honestly you've contradicted yourself so many times I can't take any of your criticism serious anymore. Its been explained so any times why the clause wasnt met, but you ignore it all the time. Everyone has different views, but its clear you have such and agenda against Moyes, you actually ignore stuff and bend the truth to fit your agenda. Moyes isnt going anywhere, so suck it up and accept it, and stop sounding like a parody.

You don't even realise he was at Juve to scout Marchisio and Cagliari's Astori! Every Italian paper knew this, even Cagliari admitted this!

Ferguson scouted top players in person too. some managers like to see the players for themselves. Only a complete idiot thinks that is a point of complaint.

Why? Is he immune from criticism? Has the man done more good than bad since joining? Are you going in to games worried about being humiliated, like tomorrow, considering how mediocre the performances have been? Is there anything to be positive at all about so far under Moyes, apart from Anderson leaving and Januzaj's renewal.

Sorry Mike, this is a forum where we debate stuff, if you don't like it then maybe you should stop reading. I'll be against Moyes until he actually does something to make me confident in his abilities in this job. Didn't want him at the start and definitely still don't.

Oh and do you expect me to reply to the invidual posts that just replied to me arguing that one of Lallana, Rakitic, Pjanic or Cabaye wouldn't drastically help our midfield? And that Fellaini wasn't a panic buy?... come on..... you can't defend any of that. Any one of them midfielders would be great. It's not like one of them coming in this month would make us not need another in the summer anyway.

Ok I obviously forgot to add Marchisio to that list, but the fact is he's been interested in Vidal as well. But even Marchisio is near enough impossible, despite his current situation, he's ****** Juventus through and through. Like going over Fabregas again.

Losing a place in the team doesn't make someone suddenly want to leave the club of their dreams.

We have debated, time and again your posts have been pulled apart, and yet you post the same nonsense. No one had said he is immune from criticism. Believe me I wish I couldn't read your posts but sadly I have to. The fact that you say this yet agains hows that you simply dont read what anyone says. You admit you're against him, and nothing you have said has ever been remotely balanced, that's what makes it so ridiculous. and you wonder why so many people pick apart your posts?

As for tomorrow, I go into it the same as before: We have a terrible record at Chelsea, and Jose is virtually unbeaten in the league at home.

Marchisio is exactly the high band signing to chase right now. BEFORE Pogba or Vidal leave in the summer. Then he becomes untouchable. And if we get top 4 then we should absolutely bid for Vidal. He's looking long and short term.

I don't remember a valid reason for Fellaini's release clause not being met. Stop crying about me criticising Moyes, just cos someone highlights certain parts of my post doesn't automatically make them right.

I still laugh to my self how Moyes turned down Thiago and even Strootman as well I think, according to some journos. Was he looking at a different team during pre-season, that mistake in itself could of cost us dearly this season.

Edit: Whoever made the thing about Fergie and Bebe. Ridiculous, Fergie made a few bad signings over his hugely successful era, so what? He was in the positions to make a few errors, Moyes certainly isn't.

I don't even bother to read your posts anymore zzeezzy.

Have you been on this thread for the last 6 years slatting Fergie for not addressing the obvious midfield problems??

HE NEVER TURNED DOWN STROOTMAN. United never moved for him, under SAF or Moyes. No one apart from Roma did.

Stop crying that Moyes is here, get over it and get on hoping he succeeds because he is here for the long run.

Come off it, have you seen Glazers.... if we're not in top 4 at end of the season he's out the door. Doesn't matter about anything, them Americans care about losing money.

Well.... yes infact I have been for the last few years, not sure I've been active over 6 years to be doing it.

You know us in not in top 4doesnt lose them that much money right? The long term sponsorships mean they could cream off the money for 4-5 years, then sell at a massive profit, while we sit outside it.

Go and take a look at their hiring and firing policy and how many they have been through with their american football franchise over the last 20 years. Then lets talk about it more.

18 in 20 years I think they have gone through.

Except we're completely different to their football clubs. Because we are a cash cow of the fattest kind. We are their dream ticket. They could line money for six years regardless of where we fall. And even then, since they put no money in the club, flog us for whatever value we hold, probably 600m. They could make a ?1bn if we spent 6 years in midtable.
