In last 3-4 years, we always had injury crisis with defenders, thus playing Fletcher and Carrick as CDs. Jones, Evans and Smalling are all injury prone, much more than Rio was. If they continue to play well for reserves, they'll get their chance.
 
Few reports over the last couple days that Utd will most likely spend the same the next 2 window. Most probs BS.

Not sure where this discussion is heading now tbh. I just don't personally think that they should fall under the category of first-team players who are academy products because well .. They are not first-team squad regulars

Ofcourse not. But they did get chance to play. Fletcher could have play CD as he did in past, but McNair got his chance and he took it. Still point remains, United is giving youth players a chance.
 
Welbeck should have buried that. As for McNair. He will get more chances, not sure about Thorpe, but McNair showed more composure than the likes of Smalling. If he can make that a regular thing LVG will play him regularly

Defo. Had a great game its all about taking them chances as LVG says about youth, and boy did he! LVG seems to think Thorpe will make a good DM I read somewhere.
