The Manchester United Thread

That was embarrassing especially considering how strong our lineup was, really worrying how we keep putting in bad performances, I can't even remember the last really good performance tbh.

If QPR and Newcastle don't count because of the easy opposition then you'll probably have to go back to the fergie days in my humble opinion.

I know we are most probs not in for them but been watching Valencia a lot this season and Otamendi,Gaya and Mustafi have all impressed. But that's just going off this season. Would rather have Hummels and Howdes if rumours are true.

Why on earth did we loan him out and why on earth are we letting an actual fullback with potential go.........

Every system you pick will require people to work to be available for a pass. 4 at the back needs a ball distributor as much as 3 at the back does.

Yes, in 4 man defense you have midfielder to distribute, in 3-5-2 you rely on your center CB to carry the ball as we have a midfielder short and extra CB. Same players but in different systems the change in performance this season was obvious.

Hate to answer myself, but does anyone have any reasons/answer at all to why we are letting Varela who is one of our better fullback prospects (hence the Real Madrid interest) and are letting him leave when are in desperate need of them.

This to me signifies Van Gaal is either keen to stick with the 3 at the back formations and he's happy with the Rafael/Shaw (both injured) Valencia/Young as wingback options or we might actually sign a fullback in this window.... which I'm doubting.

[h=1]United win Junior Cup in Germany[/h]Joel Castro Pereira’s penalty shoot-out heroics saw Manchester United crowned winners of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup in Germany on Sunday.
After a 0-0 draw in the final with VfB Stuttgart in Sindelfingen, the young keeper saved three of the Germans’ spot-kicks to earn the six-a-side tournament’s trophy.
The entire Under-19 competition was held over the weekend, with eight teams participating – four of which came from the host country. United and their fellow finalists were accompanied by Celtic, Schalke 04, Grasshopper Club Zurich, Fenerbahce, Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Having finished third in 2014’s contest, the Reds overcame early disappointment against the Grasshoppers in this year’s offering by beating Stuttgart and Schalke, before suffering defeat to Fenerbahce.
A win over Hoffenheim, followed by revenge against United’s first opponents in the form of a 6-0 semi-final victory over Grasshoppers ensured a path to the final for the Reds, where skipper Pereira proved to be the hero and Joe Riley was awarded the Player of the Tournament prize afterwards.

Well done telegraph on stating the obvious.

We'll draw chelsea, arsenal, city or liverpool in the cup it's a certainty.

Reid and a godin/hummels/miranda wouldn't be half bad now or the summer along with a fullback or two.

Would be happy with Reid tbh. Hardy ever has a bad game and on a free. But would like someone a bit higher quality also. Think Evans will go and not sure Blackett/McNair will get new contracts.

Sky Sports says United and Arsenal might be looking at him in the summer.

Considering Allardyce has pretty much ruined any chance of him staying any longer by saying he has no future there - we should ****** get him now, I can't take our defence this season much longer, don't want to see Evans in a United shirt again. It's invevitable we will see Evans again though if we don't get a CB in January and when you consider Smalling/Rojo/Jones all are made of paper it seems.

Winston Reid and I'd take him now - what has the United defence come to.

Reid will become the next sick note if he did join :)
