[h=1]Manchester United's €80m for Pogba, wages, what is actually said, full details[/h]

On Wednesday morning we received an avalanche of questions via Twitter from Manchester United supporters who wanted to know if it was true their club had made a bid for Paul Pogba. There were mixes of claims coming from the Italian press and if fans were to take the most optimistic line of each, and twist things just a little, then they'd be heading to Old Trafford to get a shirt with Pogba on the back and wondering how he'd fit into the team for the next available match.

The Italian newspaper pushing it the most is
La Stampa and they've got quite a lengthy article on the situation. It's best to take things steps by step. They headline by saying that Manchester (they mean United) have an €80m plan for Pogba, the sub-headline explains that Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has put forward the Manchester United plan to Juventus and if Pogba and Juve agree then a deal could happen.
That's for the summer. It's all kicked off because Raiola turned up at Juventus' offices on Tuesday and that always causes either panic or excitement, yesterday it was a mixture of both. La Stampa say that talks were all part of 'The Long Goodbye' for Pogba. It's claimed there's no prospect of a January move but there is for next summer and it's explained that some transfers require 'great preparations'.
La Stampa then spend a paragraph going over what Pogba's price should be. Analysing various old quotes such as Raiola saying Pogba is worth twice as much as Gareth Bale. Then all kinds of algorithms are suggested to find out the true value of Pogba, which can be debated forever.
The juicy bit is that La Stampa reckon Raiola said he's spoken to Manchester United who have said they're willing to pay €80m for Pogba in the summer. Wages of €9m per season are mentioned, but then it's stated that those quotes have come from different previous opinions.
Juventus are now supposed to, with this information, make any judgements they need to on Pogba's future. La Stampa make a point of saying the idea of Manchester United paying €80m in the summer isn't the result of reports in tabloids. That Juventus have been encouraged to make their own judgements by Raiola fits in with claims elsewhere in Italy.
Turin newspaper
Tuttosport were always going to have their say and they claim on Wednesday that the crux of the matter is wages. Raiola wants Pogba to be earning something like €8m to €10m and that's too much for Juventus, say Tuttosport. Keep in mind that figures in Italy are often quoted after tax.
Juventus are worried about the player's will turning against them. Tuttosport say that whilst the club could reject even a big offer for Pogba, seeing him as their key to success, they don't want him agitating for a move and that's where Raiola comes in. Tuttosport reckon that the agent has gone to Juventus and 'explained' to them that Manchester United have communicated to him the numbers they would be willing to work with for a summer transfer.
The gist of it all appears to be that Raiola is telling Juventus if
they won't pay huge wages to Pogba - there are others who will. Juventus' ceiling is €4.5m but they are willing to work around that so Pogba can be paid much more. That would be in the form of a bonus, but getting that as high as €4.5m would be difficult.
If Juventus see Raiola approaching their offices again then they'd probably like to turn all the lights off and stick the 'CLOSED' sign up but there are talks ongoing about the club's interest in Borussia Dortmund player Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is also represented by the agent.
