The Manchester United Thread

Paul Hirst @hirstclass Follow LVG expecting aerial bombardment at Cambridge "They play long balls. They have 5 or 6 players above 1m90 so for us it's difficult to defend"

I honestly can't see United making top 4 this season. I personally think it'll be Chelsea, City, Southampton and Arsenal, in which order I don't know and if it wasn't for LvG's "reputation" he would be facing the same scrutiny and pressure as Moyes was under last season.
aye he is doing just as bad spent more but cos of who he is it looks liking he is geting a free ride at the mo

Madrid are giving that 16 year old Martin Odegaard 80k a week. wtf. no wonder he picked them

chose money over a career such a shame by the time hes 25 he will be playing in the 2nd division in cyprus

80k 80 ******* k? and we get laughed at for some of our contracts. Tbf to Madrid though when you have a **** that big you might aswell swing it about, which is what they do everytime they want a player who has interest from other clubs.

It will be here to stay this season because the players are not good enough.

Even though we spent over 150m and already had rooney, rvp, mata, carrick, de gea and can't stay fit rafa in the squad? nah not buying that one.

We can play any 4 at the back formation some games might just end up 3-3, 3-2, 4-3 etc etc but atleast it'll be exciting.

Your looking at the wrong end of the pitch. You don't have to buy it, its true. LVG does not want to concede high number of goals. That why I have said all along that there will be a bigger turn around in players that people think.

Well, does not want to concede high number of goals is well and good. But NONE of our players are ****** able to adjust to a 3-5-2. We're not dynamic enough, nor are we any good at getting the ball to the forwards in the right places, and for some reason, LvG refuses to play di Maria at CM where he's actually been pretty decent :\

Like i said players not good enough to play 4 at the back. I agree we are better that way and more attacking but we are also more leaky. We don't have right players to play 352 to its potential, but at the same time we are not likely to concede a high number of goals either. Will just have to put up with it this season unfortunately :(

It's more the question of what is preferable. The way I look at it - 3 at the back, let teams press completely on you, lack of any movement, you either win by luck, most likely a draw or lose due to continual pressure. 4 at the back, leakier defence, but you also have a chance to get in a couple of goals more, which improves chances of winning.

We're being pressured out of our reach by teams that aren't even supposed to come close to doing that to us, with 3 at the back. Gah!

I agree mate i really do. But can also see the reasons why.

Still don't see the problem in a 4231 with blind and carrick holding and having the fullbacks provide width when needed and the 3 behind rvp/falcao just rotating and interchaning but also doing their defensive duties when needed. especially away from home, seems a solid formation when you have two sitting
