Well with LVG's comments regarding buying a creative midfielder which I agree with in a way it is totally disrespectful to Herrera and I seriously want an answer as to what is going on there, he hasn't had hardly an opportunity.

My guess is after these comments he may well be gone in the summer. Possibly Mata as well but he's more of a no.10 so the comments may not apply directly to him.

Can you post the quote where he said he needs creative midfielders? From the official site:

When asked if his priority will be to find a new midfield man, he replied: "Of course, of course.
"I am looking for balance and I need balance in midfield. When I play with [Adnan] Januzaj and [Angel] Di Maria in the midfield positions, then you need a certain balance for that kind of creative player.
"So, when you have these creative players, and also [Radamel] Falcao and [Robin] van Persie are creative players, then you have four creative players and you have to look for balance in your team."

So he says he needs midfielder to balance the lack of defense, not creativity.

It's on the Sky Sports website but it seems they've plucked that from thin air as nobody else is running the quote.

Sky clearly twisted the words. In the official site he says just midfielder and Telegraph reported the same.
 
I don't really understand if we consider someone like Verratti how he would magically give us more balance in midfield compared to Herrera.

But on the other hand someone like Pogba yes you could understand, but he's like the only outstanding candidate, taking a gamble on Strootman with big money we'd pay isn't the solution I'd want right now.

Still think Herrera deserves more opportunities, he hasn't been worse than anyone else at all there. LVG says his captain in the philosophy always plays, so my guess is that he's trying to fit Rooney in somehow, but in reality he should be no.10/striker.

Also a quote on sky sports, Herrera must be feeling so great right now, disrespectful I think from LVG.
 
Coming to Herrera stats, his stats are very good compared to best CMs in the league, shame he is not getting any games. There must be something more than just not playing well as per Van Gaal.

Favouritism towards Van Persie, sticking with him as striker, Rooney undroppable due to captaincy as he's already said, leaves no real room for Herrera at all when you consider these things.

I'm disappointed got to be honest, LVG's approach I feel he's causing a lot of the problems himself with his stubbornness and I don't understand why he keeps persisting with Falcao and RVP, it just doesn't work, Rooney's work rate up there alongside one of them, not to mention his goals and Herrera with Blind/Carrick would be fine and no less balance.

Midfield of Blind, Herrera, Di Maria will give nice balance or maybe Fellaini in midfield and Di Maria out wide as we need some physical presence in midfield.

In Van Gaal's mind Rooney provides more balance and he's the only option there in place of Herrera.
