The Manchester United Thread

I think your doing Blind a big disservice he has figures are right up there for tackles and interceptions in the league for DMs and pace don't matter when you can read the game so well. Matic is not fast at all. Blind should be a starter in a 433 as the DM.
No, I'm not. He's a good player, no doubt. Is he starter material for United? At this moment no. He's not doing enough to protect two midfielders in front of him. He did a good job, don't get me wrong, but I see him as squad player and nothing else.

Maybe its just me but I would have Blind starting every game imo and has been key for us this season and with better luck with injuries and playing in a better team he will only get better. LVG seems to rate him and his qualities and cant see him being dropped and does not deserve to be imo. Its a bit silly comparing the 2 even though it was me that did, was just trying to show he is a key player for us.

I'm not taking anything away from him. He's been one of our best players this season. But he wasn't that good when you compare him with your elite defensive midfielders. He's intelligent versatile player, but his technical along with his physical attributes gives him disadvantage over the likes of Matic or Busquets who are also inteligent, but one is physically imposing and other is technically brilliant.

My line up I would like to see start next season would be 433

De Gea
Clyne,Hummels,Rojo,Shaw
Blind
Schniederlin,Gundogan
DiMaria,Depay
Rooney
That would be more than 100 mil. Ł spent, and the midfield looks unbalanced, Gundogan is a playmaker and Schneiderlin is too defensive minded, you need a B2B player there. Also, do you think that first 11 is good enough for title?

That's a very balanced CM Blind defensive, Schniederlin BTB and Gundogan is a hard working creative CM. Yes I think that team could win the title, plus the other players we have and will sign.

All those stats tell me is United lose the ball more than Barcelona and Chelsea, and i knew that.

Mine would be:

Defensive midfielder
Herrera - Di Maria
*winger/Rooney* Rooney/New Stiker Depay ( if he comes).

Depending on defensive midfielder, that team would be very balanced.

Wow I have never heard anyone claim Blind lacks technique quite the opposite in fact.

I think we sometimes seriously overrate our own players. And when we don't do that, we seriously underrate them. I'm talking about Busquets and Matic and why are they better than him. I didn't say Blind as poor technique, he has good first touch and he's capable of keeping possession. Dribbling not so much, but thats not that important.

How did those stats tell you United lose the ball more often than other teams?

Minimally more tackles, headers, interceptions, he wins the ball more coz u dont have it. Anyone watching Barca, Chelsea and Man u comparitivly knwo that though

David de Gea
Clyne - Hummels - Rojo - Shaw
Blind
Pogba - Herrera
di Maria --------Depay
Rooney

Ideally, that eleven should be pretty good for the title. But Pogba looks unlikely to happen. Substitute Schneiderlin in his stead.

Transfers ideally?
RB - Clyne.
CB - Hummels. If not, Varane/Laporte
CM - Pogba. If not, depending on type of player needed, either Gundogan or Schneiderlin. OR Bender (either of the two, play di Maria in midfield if so)
Wings - Depay. No Brainer.
ST - Lacazette. Dybala. Vietto (would prefer in that order. As mentioned, don't really like Berahino)

Well hope Chelsea win today at least put Saints out the race for top 4 if we win. Seen few people saying team will be

De Gea
Rafa,Smalling,Jones,Shaw
Blind,Carrick
Valencia,Mata,Young
Rooney

>_> Blind and Carrick? That'll be slow as ****. And why no Herrera? I don't think this'll be the final team..

Stewart Gardner @stewartgardner Follow In his prog notes, LVG says Rafael's performance for the U21's, "will be a factor in deciding my line-up for this afternoon's match" #mufc
