The Manchester United Thread

Our depth is scarishly thin, I have no idea what LVG or Woodward is thinking if we're bringing in a 19 year old as the only attacking reinforcement in an area that was already thin. Then furthermore allowing 3 further out the door. Staggering if we don't and a seriously dangerous gamble.

It looks like we are about to see a first: You being RIGHT AFTER ALL for screaming about these things for 2 months now and being told off by "you re overreacting we still got X months/weeks/days before the window shuts".

Getting rid of another striker makes no sense, unless its Wilson himself pushing for a loan.

In our current situation in attacking positions getting rid of no one really made sense like Chicharito and Januzaj.

They must be ecstatic with this deal as they are getting 25% of the fee.

The absolute opposite is true, sadly. They wanted to keep him, but were unable to get Gomis (and his wages) off their books last summer so they sold their most promising academy player for a tiny fee.

Monaco will receive € 50 million guarantee. This will be paid in the amount of € 30 million up front, followed by four payments of € 5 million each year in July.

The additional unsecured expenses, totaling another € 30 million. These include € 5 million each time Martial is the top scorer in the Premier League, to a maximum of € 15 million. Another € 5 million will be due if Martial wins Golden Boy. The final € 10m will be paid if Martial won the Balon D'or career in Manchester.

Well if that's the case I would love us to pay the full 80m for him.

Yeah, so just as I predicted yesterday. Bonuses based on excellent performance. Not a problem at all.

Yeah probably then, but now happy with this and this is probably what they had in mind when inserting the clause though not this much of money.

That's actually really good structure wise, doesn't take much out at all. Must be confident of having this guy for a fair few seasons with payments over periods of time like that.

And here's me thinking we'd overpaid for Origi .....

So almost 40% of the cost is only paid if he turns into one of the world's best players.

The flat fee is pretty crazy but the bonuses are actually very favourable for United. This looks less silly than it did yesterday, even if it's still a big gamble.

I have no idea about this Martial chap, but I'm very under-whelmed how we've let go so many attacking players and replaced them with two in Depay and Martial (who I have no idea what he is currently like ability wise).

One or two injuries and we're literally relying on Wilson/Martial to have a big impact on the first-team as we literally have very few other options unless you want to go all Fellaini on me. Very poor squad management to let all our other players go and put big pressure on these young players to deliver.

One or two injuries and you're relying on two of the hottest wonderkids in Europe for goals. One or two injuries and we're relying on Ramires as the tempo controller of our midfield. ;_;

Were you ever not though?

Even that's a stretch to call them that. Not just referring to striker positions though, we literally have no one as an alternative to Mata on the right either, unless Martial will play there as well.

No.10 options are Herrera and Pereira.

LW Depay and Young

RW Mata and Martial

ST Rooney Martial and Wilson

Are you genuinely happy with this window? Not saying we haven't made some good signings.

But to replace Di Maria, Januzaj, Chicharito, Nani, RVP, Falcao with.... Martial and Depay is just... very silly. Going to be costly mistake in terms of squad management by the end of the season as well. The depth just isn't there or relying on players from other positions to cover. Like Martial playing RW at times as well as striker maybe.

It's not. That's exactly what they are. Monaco didnt throw those clauses in to be generous. He is seriously highly rated. They are banking on making money off his future as well as his present
