It's his attitude, can't blame it on agents every time. Nothing to do with Ward.

No question but I'm sure it's just got worse with Ward's similar attitude and his approach has manifested itself on the **** that is Saido Berahino.

Was it last season or the season before when James Morrison chinned him? Props James, saido seems like a right bell.

I take it back on Berahino BTW.

What a complete and utter *******. I thought he'd learned after ditching Ward. But this is STRAIGHT out of the Ward big book of B/S.

Way to potentially permanently damage a very promising young career jackass.
Agreed, totally unprofessional from him and his actions does not benefit anyone at all. Very, very poor from him and with that kind of attitude I don't see him progressing too much.

Whos this kid we have signed? Regan Poole from Newport. Anybody know anything about him?

One thing I gotta say, is that I admire Van Gaal's confidence (I wanted to say balls, but that would sound weird).

For 50m+30m incentives he could get basically any striker in the world, bar Benzema, Suarez and Lewandowski. Instead he decides to gamble with unknown 19 year old. If all goes according to his plan, he will retire in 2 years and leave the club in excellent shape with young squad that will be capable of playing at high level for the next half a decade.

Of course it can all just as well go to ****, time will tell if he's a genius or a madman. But you gotta admit that he thinks big.

Since last night when all those players leaving and only Martial likely to come in Ive been chanting "LVG knows what he's doing, LVG knows what he' s doing" in an attempt to keep calm ... but its difficult.

Zzeezzy is not that unreasonable in all his pronouncements regarding our incomplete transfer dealings, something we would all be acknowledging if we were more neutral.

LvG knows what he's doing, LVG knows what he's doing, LVG knows what he's doing, LVG knows ...

To be fair you did try to get a "big" name in prior to signing Martial but after failing to get a rather unrealistic deal done for Muller you went for the realistic option. Martial certainly wasn't the first name on LvG's list.

1. Know what you mean bearing in mind his history of actually showing people his balls.
2. He can be both (and I think evidence shows he IS both).

Yeah, but he could very easily go for slightly-lower-tier and get proven quality in Cavani, Higuain, Ibra, Lacazette and so on. That'd be the safe choice.

I wonder whether LVG favoured going for Martial over other players because he has shown that he can be used in a counter-attacking system that requires strong discipline in terms of doing the defensive-side of the work for the team as well. I know these things gets overlooked but under Monaco's manager Jardim they do really rely on staying tight defensively before counter-attacking.

For Martial to show he can do both parts of the game well is key that he has a good attitude and mentality to work hard.

Or you've just been left desperate at the end of the window.

Potentially. which is all he currently is, 'potential', you have a very good future player.

But shy of just being a body, i don't see how he helps you out much at all this year. Although I'd hope he has a far higher ceiling than Origi, who I don't hold much of any hope for; he just appears to be a lot more expensive version of the Belgium at this stage in their respective careers. Lightening quick, with a lot of hype. But little to no experience in reality, in a lesser league at that, to be anywhere near ready for the BPL.

I honestly don't see either having much impact on anything this year but time will tell on that.

And given your lack of much if any depth up front, the here and now is more important than the future as I currently type.

Even Monaco admit United has been watching him for a year.

Well tbf Monaco did only get knocked out of CL few weeks ago so it wasn't even possible before that.

I think comparing him to Origi is a bit needless. I mean with Martial he has already shown he can do it at the top level against Arsenal in the Champions League and cause them big problems. To say he is all 'potential' is a bit of a disservice to what he has actually done so far. I mean he must have current ability of some kind to make Arsenal not be able to cope with him in CL last season.

Ibra didnt fancy the EPL, Lacazette and Higuain were not looking to move. Cavani would have cost almost 80m euros outright.

Martial is a good player (right now), who is young, quick, intelligent and very technically gifted with an exceptionally high ability to go places, and all the pros and cons that come with it.

He's not even remotely comparable to Origi unless one has watched neither or is deliberately trying to be obtuse.

I could go on, but the short answer is: Monaco put those clauses in for a reason, and it wasn't to be nice to us.

Presume your alluding to the 'left desperate' line there.

All hypothetical, being as nobody's on the inner sanctum at Utd, but would you of expected this move had you gotten an experienced head in? I men for this amount of money right here and now? He wasn't going anywhere else, do I'd of thought ideally he'd of been left to develop at Monaco and see how he went this season.

But you didn't, so you've bit the bullet now.

I don't know, I might be well off the mark. But I wouldn't of thought this transfer was seriously talked about this year until the window rolled with nothing else.

Big pressure on his young shoulders, but if he can do it against Arsenal in CL on the biggest stage last season, he can certainly contribute now for us.

Fine, I'll leave it (Not that I was comparing the two per se. Just where they're currently at. But it's all conjecture anyways until he plays) but remember that.

Because it'll be interesting to revisit this at the season's end and see just how different (or not), the respective players seasons have been.

Indeed, LVG will protect him on that front, I'd be very surprised if he starts the Liverpool game tbh

and Origi scored in the world cup, doesn't prove hes still not all mostly potential and hypatheticals
