The Manchester United Thread

Get in West Ham. We now need to win tomorrow at saints, it's weekends like these that will make or break our title challenge. Rooney no10 with martial up top young and depay in wings.

No thanks to Memphis on the left, we'll get exposed without Shaw.

Have to is not the same with will mate.

I don't know why we shouldn't be confident of a win against this lot? Southampton are very average now and they have no standout players anymore really.

Can see Mane and Tadic mugging off our left side (left cb and lb)

Didn't see the game midweek as I was driving down to East Midlands, but I presume the confidence isn't there down to you being pretty darn poor most of the year by your own admission.

I'd make that a pretty even contest going in with not too many goals given both sides respective starts and form.

Think we'll sneak a 1-0 win. Saints have been pretty poor this season and we seem to finally be doing better going forward, just have to hope we can keep it up. Hopefully van Gaal puts Rojo at LB and keeps the Smalling-Blind partnership going in the middle but I can't see it.

Rooney to finally get off the mark in the league.

I honestly didn't get the negativity from United fans from the game in mid-week (from a performance point of view) I thought we played well and going forward was best I've seen us play this season so far. We just didn't convert our chances it goals, which is another problem in itself.

Yeah I agree with this tbh.. On another day Mata doesn't try to take a touch and Memphis finds the bottom corner instead of putting it wide. Just one of those days, with Shaw's injury and the fact the guy that broke his leg scored the equaliser. I'm not looking too much into the defeat at all.

My pessimistic has nothing to do with mid week game, it's just how we play at Southampton and how they always played better than us in last few years. They are very organised team defensively and always plays well against us.

I like these posts. When season started most United fans (me included) were not convinced by Smalling Blind partnership at all, now United fans are hoping Van Gaal doesn't break Smalling Blind partnership.

Sometimes you just have to give credit for Van Gaal for not looking for obvious decisions.

Watch out for Matt Targett today at LB. Been super impressed with him every time I've seen him.

That Southampton academy keeps churning them out.

23 passes we just had and we ended up going back 20 yards then losing the ball. Possession football under LVG is aimless a lot of the time and we're all over the place.

**** didn't we sign a cb last season and does anyone see why we signed Rojo?

Poor Dave playing behind this lot. Most predictable side in the league, keep ball with zero tempo or penetration.

Mata can play out-wide but going the other way backing up his full-back he is a liability sometimes.

This is horrible to watch.
I'm not sold on this Depay lad at all.

Immediate answer is left foot, other answer is that he can play different positions.

Isn't it great to have Rooney back?....

Haven't even tested the keeper at all yet.
