The Manchester United Thread

Don't you think when a player does something poorly or isn't running back fast enough like with Moreno the other night it actually helps when you have a manager to shout in their ear on the touchline. LVG just sits there no matter what. I just seen him visibly angry but not actually going to the touchline to tell anyone, so it has no impact.

If you guys end up with a replay, or worse go out altogether, you only have yourselves to blame.

Tbh I see some last ditch defending by Derby but not really many chances so to speak. Haven't seen the goalkeeper pull off a good save.

Why can't Rooney play like this every week, ****** me off how it takes him until January to resemble anything like his old self. The fact it takes like 4/5 months of him being garbage to finally start looking good. Part of the problem. Tonight he has been good.

Is Smalling EVER going to learn to stop holding at corners?

After Newcastle, when you thought he would be careful, he's been more and more blatant every game.

Varela looks the real deal, sure few sloppy touches here and there especially in their final third at some key times but considering he is lacking game time and only 22 I'd be happy with him getting more games. CBJ as LB been solid as well, I see potential for them as United players for sure.

Mata passing/ final ball has been woefull tonight. Dont know how Fellaini still on, least Schniederlin wont get injured.

Varela MOTM for me! CBJ looks like could become a good player.

CBJ got very good temperament, didn't get fazed when came on at Anfield and played without putting a foot wrong. Very similar tonight.

There is small signs of hope, we done well-ish tonight compared to past, in this game more than anything what is sticking out more than anything is how we're still at our softest in the middle. Yet again in the summer could be CM that is needed, a good ball playing midfielder more than anything I think.

That was utter class from Martial.

Only person that can't see it is Van Gaal. (And Tyton but he's weird. *Grins at the big Pole.).

Remember, you need MORE FB's! (Whilst totally ignoring the actual ones you have.). #partoftheblameshiftingphilosophy

Tyton wasn't wrong. That much. Varela has been poor defensively and inconsistent when going forward. This game he fixed the defending, though it's against championship team.

Martial, when he matures, he'll be ******* machine.

Very hard for young player like him to show his full self in a match when he is only getting a game here and there. The signs have been encouraging, he has shown more tonight potentially about what he can offer and he is bound to still be raw at that age.

I tend to agree, but he's not the youngest player around anymore. He'll be 23 in March and he has less then 10 games at his feet at the highest level. Similar situation to Bebe, he has talent, but very little experience. Or in Bebe's case, he didn't learn basics of the game at the young age, so his tactical development and overall tactical approach to the game is bad. I have a feeling Varela will be decent at worst, similar to Alex Buttner.

Decent win in the end given the circumstances. Did anyone see Ed Woodward posing every time camera was on his area? This guy lol.
