Tbf who the **** would we get? Kinda beats buying for the sake of buying. I mean the last thing we need is more average squad players, got enough of them already.
The important thing right now is salvaging the season, new manager can take of his own problems later.

The only one that's good enough is Jose. If you really want Jose to manage us, then please take a quick step and look at how ****** Chelsea were under him this season.

There are managers apart from Jose, Giggs. Bucket is not that small. If you pay enough, there are many managers who will die to manage ManUtd.
Have you seen how we are sliding? Just sticking with manager for the sake of it is the worst thing to do.
Because he makes the final decisions. Woodward is CEO for a reason.
Yeah Van Gaal is the only person not to see it yet the only manager who trusted him to start big games and gave him chances at the top level. Weird post.
One of the best winter signings of the PL era, him and Evra for 12.5 Million pounds was a steal.
Absolutely brilliant CB and his on the ball skill was very underrated. Would give anything to have someone like him in this team. He was a man mountain and a warrior.
Second best CB we had in PL era after Rio. Close call, as a pair they were just brilliant.

Martial has no doubt been our best signing for a long while but it's a shame we neglected other glaringly obvious deficiencies in the squad hoping that we'd get away with it because if we had of addressed the CB and striker area, maybe this season would of been a good one. Not to mention the fullbacks.
I hope we learn in the summer that we can't go into a season with a thin squad, regardless of how LVG thinks.

On the lack of January transfer activity, I'd say it's the biggest sign that LVG will not be here after the summer.
As was mentioned by another poster, why would you invest in players that may not suit the new arrival?
United are a business, a money making, marketing behemoth.
Just as advertisers won't pay top dollar to run a slot during an unpopular or failing TV show, sponsors will want a better deal due to United having mediocre results on the pitch. We've already had a statement of discontent from the CEO of Adidas.
Unfortunately, I think that will cause more concern with our owners than several trophy free years.

Few reports in Portugese press and Sports Witness saying we are in advanced talks with Benfica for young star Renato Sanchez plays CM. From what i have read its sounds very similar to Martial deal. We have been forced to move early due to clubs going for him in the summer. Fees from around 30-56m depending on source. Not seen him play tbh, watched a few clips and highlight vids. Looks a brute physicaly for a lad who has just turned 18 and looks like he has good technique and passing range from what ive seen and been told can play BTB role or more advanced quite easilly. A fair few Benfica fans i have spoke to have told me is as highly rated as Goncalo Guedes who we have been scouting very closely this season and are 2 of the biggest tallents to come through in a long time. Only problem is sounds like it could be a loan back deal till the end of the season, but should not be a problem as we are pretty well stocked in CM atm.
Sad to see Vidic retire what a career what a player!!! We really have missed him and Feridinand and found it hard to replace them. At last Smalling has started to turn into the CB we all thought he could become with his attributes. Just need to get him a partner now, more of a brute pure defending no nonsense CB, still have hope for Rojo he was playing well at the start of the season before shoulder problems and hopefuly can recover nd carry on in the same manner. Given up on Jones now tbh cant play 1-2 games without missing 7-8, shame really because when he plays he usually plays well. I would look to ofload him in the summer sign a new CB and look to promote TFM or Tuanzebe.

These kind of signings always get me excited, cos it shows we're looking to not just now but the future as well. I honestly don't have a clue about him but if it's anything like the Martial deal I'm confident we're going for him now for the right reasons. Going to be an inflated fee but guess we expect that as the normal now.

It sounds like a carbon copy of the Martial deal in the way we are moving early to beat our competetors. Think we will get stung on price, but will be worth it if hes as good as they say. Just been speaking to a Benfica fan and he says he has been one of there best players at the age of 18 this season and is a very dynamic BTB type player. Its got my juices flowing anyway
All our signings except Schweinsteiger are young/ish players with minimum of 7-8 years left in the tank.
This is why I don't get those who try to defend LVG by saying this is a bad squad, it is a thin squad yes but that was LVG's choice. He doesn't like having too many players due to not being able to keep all of them motivated.
If Fergie had this team with the proven pedigree of Rooney, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Mata and De Gea whilst having the likes of Pereira, Depay, Martial, Shaw etc. to build this team on he would of tore this league to shreds.
Nobody is saying this is a bad squad. It's a good squad, but missing a few key ingredients every top team needs.
Namely, it's missing a superstar game changer, it's missing competent fullbacks through all the injuries, and it's currently missing a ball distributor that would fit possession style.
Next year when Shaw recovers and you make 1-2 good additions, they can very well run away with the league.
