The Manchester United Thread

Pep makes Man City a lot more attractive and at least they are planning ahead. Meanwhile we're stuck with Van Gaal, a manager who has already admitted he can't fulfill fans expectations and is retiring season after this one. Yet we seem to have a board who will not sack him no matter what because we want to keep with his philosophy and build a plan around him for.... at best... one more season.

Whilst I'm in doom and gloom mode, Schweinsteiger reportedly out for another month, so our midfield is suddenly looking rather **** again. Can kind of see Tyton's point about why we needed a few signings in this window. But it seems like the board don't care much about top 4 anyway so what the heck.

Those die hard Man City fans that got on-board in 2011 will be over the moon ;)
Won't see many reactions until after 4pm though... They are stuck in school.

Info : Arsène Wenger a refusé le prêt de Debuchy à Manchester United justifiant que Man Utd était un concurrent direct pour le podium !

This guy as reliable as it comes in France was one of the first who broke Martial and has just confirmed that we appear to be scratching around again at the end of the window. Embarrassment of a club these days. Going after ****** players like Debuchy, remember the days when we used to go after Arsenal's best players?

We had time to plan for this window and we have had all month yet the best we can do is ****** hope for Arsenal to sell us Debuchy. Our club has turned into a joke.

Okay. So you don't want us to sign defenders now? Make up your mind.

We literally have no full back fit at the moment. This deal makes some sense. It's a loan from what I've read for semi decent full back to give us an actual FB for the time being. Don't know how it makes our club a joke.

LVG: 2014 to present day - Zero silverware, a win percentage of 50.63% and the personality of a washed up aul ***** trying to stare down young lads outside the chipper on a saturday night.

Manuel Pellegrini: 2013 to Present day - 1 PL Title + 1 League cup, a win percentage of 63.9%, known to be a great man manager, respectful, focused, genteel and reliable. With a great knowledge of football.

Is it just me who would welcome him down the road?

Well since Pep is going to Man City now, getting Pellegrini would be nicer than the alternative of Mou. But that seems like something that would never happen unless Pellegrini feels hard done by and wants to show Man City that he's actually the better manager.

I actually don't know who we'll go for in the summer if LVG is going.

A loan huh? Surprised Arsenal are willing to help out Utd (guess it eases their wage bill slightly) but as a short term solution you can't grumble at that.

He's played like 2 games for Arsenal. They don't really need him and he might be wanting to play first time football with Euro's coming up. And like you said, free's up some wages. It's a win win for everyone.

It certainly would. I can't stand Jose and would hate to see him at United.
Pellegrini on the other hand has always come across as a genuine, decent guy, and He certainly knows what He is doing with a football team.

If I had to choose between Pell and a manager from the continent who may fail in the Premier League, I'll take Pell any day of the week.
This club simply can't afford to gamble any more.

I want defenders when they are not total rejects on the last day of the window and they actually are of the desired quality. Debuchy is about as average as they come and it would be no help having him anyway, Varela I'd play over him.

We knew the fullback injury problem from a month or so ago (arguably when Shaw got injured so much longer), we had time to plan an action move in this window, the best they can come up with is Debuchy from Arsenal, who won't even sell him to us anyway. It's just one ****** up strategy to try and salvage this season, which has failed, cos our half of a brain cell manager or CEO didn't realise Arsenal would most likely reject anyway.

David Burns @bbcburnsy I'm hearing Nick Powell deal to @HullCity has hit a complication. Agents fee seems to be the problem. Not sure if it will go through. #hcafc

Bit gutted about Pep but not suprised was expecting him to go there. Oh well lets see who we go after.

Paul Hirst@hirstclass Andreas Pereira would like a loan deal (Malaga, PSV interested) but LVG doesn't want to let him go...

So wont giv him a loan or a game poor lad :(

In what world would having a former Man City manager who has just got dumped for the next best thing be a good move in any way for United? Some on here need their heads checking I think if you think Pellegrini coming to United would be in any way, shape or form good. Just think of the messages it will send out alone, without considering much else.

Also I'm sorry but there is some delusion to even think that you'd want Pellegrini over Mourinho, I don't care whether he's a **** or not. How the **** would you seriously pick a City (our biggest rival) manager reject over Mourinho? A guy who has won everything there is in the game and has had success during times against the best managers he has had to face such as Fergie and Pep. There is no better pedigree of a manager than Mourinho left for us.

When it's mid season, Euro's coming up, Man Utd not in the champions league anymore and playing badly, the only players that are going to move to us are players currently not playing first team for a chance at playing first team. Varela is a young talent but would be nice to have a more experienced FB for difficult games.

And yes you're right, we've known about our FB injury list for a while, but that doesn't mean that people are just "oh you have injury problems? no problem we'll sell you our best FB. Don't worry about us we don't really need them". Can't just summon FB's out of the ******* blue.

If we sign Debuchy I'll **** myself laughing :D
Sometimes it's like a rival fan has taken control of the team and is messing with our **** for a laugh XD

As you say, we had plenty of time to plan some movements but sat around twiddling our thumbs. This seem's to be the par for the course with these mini injury crisis now.

Yes I really dont understand LVG on this. And its not the first time he's done it. Also, the way he treated VALDES was sooo disrespectful and whatever he did to upset him the "punishment" was OTT.

Any way - PEP TO ******. Thats very disappointing. We knew it was happening but still ... And we are still mulling on what to do with LVG. Ive been a UTD fan since 1980 so to me UTD is partly a long history of missed opportunities (players, managers and matches). This feels like another one. Woodward and Charlton should leave us ... or at least the former with the latter realising that times HAVE CHANGED.

We still look like a sailing boat stranded in the middle of nowhere with the officers not really knowing what to do ... In the current climate where loads of teams have the money to be really competitive it looks like we are in for a long barren spell again and it breaks my heart....

HAHAHAHAHAHA, This is all coming from the guy that wants Jose to take over....

Jose got dumped because he was making it seem like Chelsea were going to have to fight relegation. Pellegrini is getting dumped because arguable the best manager in the world wants to Manage the club Pellegrini is currently at.

Jose is from a rival club as well. Sure not as big a rival as Man City, but still a huge rival. Jose is even more of a legend at Chelsea then Pellegrini is at Man City.

Pellegrini is currently leading his club to 2nd in the league, Jose was leading his team to relegation.

Jose lost the dressing room and was a **** in the media, Pellegrini seems like a nice bloke and everyone likes him.

How in any world you'd want Jose over Pellegrini is beyond me. The only thing to care about would be that Pellegrini is coming from our direct rival, but I could stomach that if it means Jose isn't coming.

Comparing the rivalry of United and Chelsea to United and City is just stupid. The only rivalry we have with Chelsea is that of a competitive nature because they have been challenging us for titles and similar positions in the table. The City rivalry on the other hand is our biggest one, it goes much further than that, lets not even debate this.

Mourinho is hands down a better manager than Pellegrini, no contest, no matter whether he has cocked up his second season or not at Chelsea he has had success everywhere he has been. He has led teams such as Inter and Porto to success when no one expected it. The United job right now is a big job, you need a guy to fill them boots, I'm not his biggest fan and in an ideal world we wouldn't go for him. But right now he is the only logical option left if you want the club to compete and win silverware again in the near future.

I discount Pellegrini just on the fact that he has been dumped by City and would send out all the wrong messages. But even further Mourinho over him any day, any time, of the year.
