The Manchester United Thread

I seem to remember he tried some breakdancing in the game against Arsenal though.

how funny would it be if thay did give it to some 1 else mou siting there thinking he had it in the bag and he got the call thanks but no thanks

This is already done. Jose will just pose with pen on white paper like all the players do.

Hopefully Jose did his homework when it comes to transfers. If we can sign Ibra then it's a massive coup. Fantastic deal who is a complete forward and excellent shot from distance.

I believe our squad is very good and Van Gaal failed to get the best out of them. Almost every player played below their potential and few reports from all papers sort of justify that. Telling players not to shoot first time, restricting players movement and emphasis on possession.

Players like Schneiderlin, Herrera, Darmian should benefit a lot from Jose. Hopefully Martial and Rashford continues to start all games.

Would be interesting to see how he fits all the players. With Ibra he will be first choice without doubt so Rashford might be back up player. If Rashford starts and Ibra plays as #10 then Rooney should be part of midfield 2. Whatever it is hopefully Rashford gets his mins, he looks like a special player.

SSN reporting that Mourinho wants to keep Giggs but not as assistant manager. But u21 manager.

It doesn't say He wants to make him U21 manager anywhere in the article. Just a coaching role.

Jose Mourinho is prepared to find a place for Ryan Giggs on his Manchester United coaching staff, but not in the role of assistant manager, according to Sky sources.

Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes will arrive in England on Tuesday for talks with United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at an undisclosed central London location.

Whilst an agreement is expected to be reached quickly due to Mourinho's strong desire to become United manager, and the fact initial talks took place earlier in the year, one detail still to be concluded is the length of his contract.

Mourinho will take his trusted deputy Rui Faria to Old Trafford as assistant manager though, meaning an effective demotion for Giggs if he agrees to stay at the club.

However, Mourinho holds the former winger's achievements at United in high regard and is keen to find a role for him to extend his 29-year association with the Red Devils.

Giggs, United's most decorated player, previously worked under David Moyes as player-coach, before taking charge of the final four games of the 2013-14 season in the role of interim manager when Moyes was sacked.

He was then named assistant manager when Louis van Gaal took charge the following summer. Giggs has been seen by some influential figures at the club as a future United manager, although this is the second time he has been overlooked for the top job.

Woodward briefed Giggs on the latest developments at the club's Carrington training ground on Monday, before the confirmation of Van Gaal's sacking was made public later in the day.

It is expected Giggs will speak with Mourinho in person before making a decision on his future. However, that conversation will not take place before Mourinho's own contract with the club is signed.

Mourinho has worked with Faria since 2001, when the former was appointed manager of Uniao de Leiria, and hired Faria as fitness coach and assistant manager.

They have been inseparable since, with Faria following Mourinho to Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, before returning to Chelsea for their second spell. The pair met at Mourino's London home on Monday afternoon, spending around 90 minutes discussing their next move.

The future of highly-rated Under-21 team boss Warren Joyce is also uncertain. Blackburn Rovers approached United for permission to speak to Joyce last week.

Joyce is keen to make the step up to manage at a higher level, although he wishes to know where he fits in to Mourinho's plans before making a final decision. It is thought United will not stand in Joyce's way if he wishes to leave, but will defer the final decision to Mourinho.

An official presentation confirming Mourinho’s appointment could be scheduled for later this week. Mourinho hopes for this as he is scheduled to appear as a lecturer at a post-graduate course in High Performance Football Coaching in Portugal next Monday and Tuesday.
He's then due to travel to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix on a pre-arranged sponsorship event. After that Mourinho will return to England, where his sole focus will be preparing for the coming season, and United’s assault on the summer transfer market

BREAKING NEWS:
Jose Mourinho is close to agreeing personal terms with Manchester United to become their new manager - Sky sources have

Here's the latest from Sky Sports News HQ's Andy Burton...
It was expected that Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes and Ed Woodward would meet in London today to discuss a deal in person, but Sky sources have confirmed the pair are already close to reaching an agreement after negotiations via phone and email last night extended into this morning.
Manchester United’s lawyers have now been instructed to draw up a draft contract, meaning today’s scheduled talks between Woodward and Mendes in London may not be needed after all. Sources close to the deal have told us the negotiations were “easy”, mainly due to Mourinho’s overwhelming desire to become Manchester United manager, and they expect a deal to be signed in the next 48 hours.
Sky Sports News HQ has been told that the financial elements of the deal are not something Mourinho is overly concerned with, and that his motivation is the challenge of restoring Manchester United to the position of Europe’s top club.

My 'assault' Wishlist(quite short, really)

World Class Centre Back(Marquinhos or Kostas Manolas)
World Class Striker(Ibra?)
World Class RW(or use Young maybe?)
World Class No. 10(If and only if Mata is sold AND Mourinho doesn't want to use Basti as DLP)

I trust Herrera and Schneiderlin to perform under Mourinho.

The bonus is for tax avoidance purposes. Man United have offered Zlatan Ibrahimovic a package worth €150k a week more than his PSG deal.

whether its worth that much more I seriously ******* doubt it, he will be on more though because of the difference in tax laws in the two countries. In effect they could offr him the same deal but he would clear more after tax.
