The Manchester United Thread

Personal terms!?!? He's been negotiating since December according to you lot ffs.

There are few who are always in denial. Jose to ManUtd is the worst kept secret in the football since feb.

When you sign player, you agree terms with him and then make a bid. But still they take time to sort out the final details before signing the dotted lines.

I think Jose will love Rooney and play him everyweek like Van Gaal did.

That's exactly what will happen, and he will continue to drag the team down.

Let's not bullshit ourselves here. The biggest mistake both Moyes and Van Gaal made, was thinking that Rooney can carry the team. He has a superstar reputation, superstar wages, and like any superstar he is undroppable from the first squad. But his actual output is laughable for an offensive player. Occasionally he will roll back the years, like with that FA cup run, but mostly he is ****.

If your superstar game changer doesn't perform, there's only so much a manager can do. Roony wasn't already up to par when Moyes took over, and he sure as **** isn't going to improve 3 years later.

Yeah, Fergie made the route easy for Moyes by ******* off Rooney. Should have sold him when Fergie left.

If we get Ibra then hopefully we will see him to China or MLS

Hopefully the first thing that happens is Rooney to China.

Yep. I respect Rooney and what he's done for the club. A true icon really, but I pray every single night to see his move to China, Saudi or Madagascar happening but knowing that Jose actually really likes Rooney and wanted him at Chelsea, he'll play him.

And just one thought about the possible attacking trio. Mourinho will play 4-3-3 and if Zlatan signs indeed, he's gonna be our #9 with Martial and Rashford on the wings and this, ladies and gentlemen, is gonna be pretty sick.

Exciting times ahead. :)

I think everyone can agree that his objective next season is top 4, so he is under pressure to get results. Rashford is still raw, he won't count on him. Chelsea had the best youth team in Europe when he was in charge, and somehow none of them could be relied upon. Don't get your hopes up high with Rashford. Hopefully I am wrong, because I like the kid, but I doubt it.

Rashford isn't youth player anymore. He is part of first team, first choice striker and the player who started FA cup finals. Different from promoting academy player to first team as he is already promoted and part of first team.

The inportant thing to remmeber with Rashford, as with the likes of Deli Ali and any other young talent (particularly English)exposed so early who hit the ground running; is to remember their age and the inevitable dips youngsters go through in their development. They need to be given time to develop and people need to appreciate its not all goong to be phenominal success.

That doesn't apply to an internet message board as such (whats written here hardly effects a player); but more so at the game and in the media. Quite conceivable he could dip and go through a goal drought next year and struggle. And you can just write the headlines already pulling him down if he did conpletely ignoring the boys talent and his age.

Its the English way but sonething that continues to nark you on young talent in this Country.

Actually there was that particular period under moyes when rooney seemed to have rolled back the years consistently.

I remember him scoring some scorchers...beautiful free kicks and he didn't deserve to be on our side during the horror 4-1 defeat against city.

Yeah, he still has his moments. But he has a reputation and status of someone like Suarez or Neymar, while his actual offensive output is not much better than Jese Lingard.

That's just plain not good enough.

United would be in completely different position right now, if Moyes had the balls to sell Rooney to Chelsea and get someone like Higuain or Cavani, who were available at the time.

#MUFC close on Mourinho deal but held up by conflict of interest with his personal car, watch & casino endorsements

Hmm I don't know, I was really wanting Rooney to leave for like last few seasons or more, but lately seeing his displays in midfield like in FA Cup final, he has left me with the impression he could really fulfill a role there. I'm still a bit skeptical as to whether he can do that role effectively against a good opposition, but I may give him another season just to see whether it works, because majority of games will be in league against teams that he should be able to dictate play from that position.

Deep lying playmaker role requires incredible discipline, consistency, and composure,. That's how Giggs was able to transition from flying winger to CM. He always had that unflappable aura about him, nothing phases him.

Unfortunately Rooney is neither disciplined nor consistent, and he sure as **** isn't calm. Sometimes he looks like Scholes reborn, sometimes he's so **** he makes Cleverley look like Scholes-reborn.

More reports coming it that Mourinho negotiations are delayed because of his UK branding rights being owned by Chelsea.

But he already had a contract signed in January, right Di Marzio?

tbf he said he was under gentlemana agreement. And wider points agreed. Finer details are the issues.
