The Manchester United Thread

It's your typical Mourinho-induced mass hypnosis. If you flipped back enough pages, you'd find 99% of regulars condemning his behavior when he was managing different clubs. But he's switched the camps, so now it's apparently okay to take absolutely pointless digs at everybody, during his first official presser.

And yes, those were minor jabs at best and nothing too serious. But if that's how he acts before season even starts , you just wait till the pressure starts ramping up. Bookies taking bets yet on who will be condemned as the obligatory backroom rat?

Simple economics my pasty white ****! It's another example of football clubs trying to take the **** out of fans.

It may only be £5 per ticket (and another £2 for under fives when it's free in that category the day after), but it's a complete and utter disgrace. The same game, which will doubtless attract the same or similar crowd, against the same standard of opposition.

One would hope the Utd fan groups would be straight onto that and having a go at both clubs. They were pretty quick to join forces with ourselves when Boston tried to pull a fast one the Europa tie and have been very supportive of our efforts in the on going ticket war so they are pretty active.

*Edit* And now I'm going to bat not only for a Chelsea fan, but Utd fans! This is a strange afternoon darn it!
just go lie down in a dark room somewhere mate a keep telling yourself this day is not happing and you will be fine

I don't disagree with it being disgraceful but you see it happening all the time even in the Premier League the smaller clubs take advantage of the bigger and charge more, Wigan see it as a cash cow due to it effectively being Jose's first game and there will be a bigger crowd as a result. They can probably justify the higher price by saying more security is needed and Gtr Manchester Police don't come cheap not that it matters most of the money will still end up in Wigan's bank.

How much further away to Wigan you do you think we are? Over a weekend too. Both those games are liable to be either sold out, or as near as **** it.

No justification at all and Utd fans need to be all over both clubs. Thankfully in the Premier League we won't be seeing the bolded again for at least three years. At least not on away tickets. Which in light of that fight makes **** like this, however inconsequential a fiver on a pre-season kick about may be perceived by some, an even bigger disgrace.

I think the point Scouse was making is that it was his first press conference. Why start making unnecessary digs at past and opposing managers before the season has even begun? You could understand it if he made them before he was playing Arsenal or Wenger made a swipe but now it just seems he is trying to pick fights when there are none.

And before any of you lot accuse me of double standards, I said the exact same thing when he criticized Benitez for winning Europa League in his first Chelsea press conference.

United fans are very much sick of the lack of fight the club has had. He's igniting a fire. Because if he doesnt, we will come off second best to the rest

Thats a mild dig. Thought it was much worse.

Honestly it was much milder than its being put across. We are not talking Benitez's wife level nastiness here, that kinda **** is horrible. This stuff is fine by me but that's stuff I dont want to see, way beyond the line.

And as we have seen twice now, whenever Jose decides to ignite a fire, he cannot control it after a while. I know the dig was mild and really not that worthy of attention but this is how it always starts, small things building onto bigger things. But thats Jose and United fans will just have to accept the whole package as it comes. I do understand and appreciate how it is a refreshing change from LVG for you guys though.

Maybe not for away tickets but home fans will not be so lucky. I use to go to a lot of games I don't anymore (not because I can't afford it but due to a distinct lack of decent (by which I mean anything above level 6) teams in my local area, but one thing I noticed even when I went was that home fan prices didn't vary no matter who was playing sadly this is not the case and clubs are not only fleecing away fants they are doing the same to their own. Norwich City last season had 5 different ticket prices depending on who they were playing ranging from £30 for D rated games to £50 for A+ games and that was for the cheapest Adult tickets, this season with them in the Championship has meant a drop in prices but they are still charging between £20 and £40. That is the real scandal. Fans should be demanding not only that away fan prices are the same for all but also that home fan prices are the same for every game.

Jose is not without his flaws, but for all the talk of damager he might do to the club, LVG did much worse last year. Got away with it because the league was so poor.

He might be consistent but you still can't criticise Mourinho for having a dig at a manager when the majority of your fans were doing it all along is all I'm saying. It comes across as hypocritical.

Hold on. I do not speak for every Chelsea fan in the world. I only speak for myself as an individual. I criticized Mourinho for making a dig at Benitez in his first press conference. Now I am doing the same when he made a dig at Wenger and LVG. Thats why you cannot accuse ME of double standards. What other fans do is there business.

Your logic is really weird. Thats like me saying you condemning racism is double standards because some United fans you have no connection to are racist.

He's trying to please Man Utd fans. He had a dig at LVG who Utd fans were annoyed by because he used the word "philosophy" way to much. He had a dig at Wenger who is the manager of Arsenal, a team Utd had a pretty big rivalry with.

And he was trying to please CFC fans as well by making a dig at Benitez last time around. My response is still the same as it was then, petty and pointless.

Partially agree with you. He will make United a force again. And if Pep was not at City, I would have you down as title winners already. But his capacity for dragging the reputation of a club through mud is unparalleled. Its just something United fans will have to accept when/if the time comes.

We Chelsea fans (myself included) eventually paid the price for giving Jose a 'free pass' for so long. His repeated digs at Wenger, Pep, Pelligerini and Benitez were sometimes justified and other times not but always tolerable and we defended him to the hilt. The problem as we realized is that when you let someone get away with small things, it can eventually lead to a massive ****-up like the Carnerio scandal which is when most of us could no longer defend him. By then the damage was done.

We are. It's an ongoing fight. There's still a long way to go but the tide is slowly starting to turn with last season's monumental events. To get the £30 cap on away tickets is a major climb down and shift in clubs.

Wigan do something like this, no matter how small, it's another kick in the teeth from clubs and needs addressing.

You've always stood up for Rafa though right and slammed Chelsea fans that didn't?

Never seen you do anything but so fas I can remember on here.

More reports about Matuidi signing for Utd tonight. Some saying we are going to pay 25m euros. See transfer thread!

Came back from work and saw the Mourinho presser.

After all the Davie/LVG mumbo jumbo it was refreshing. As the observant of you will know I have loved him from the time I first saw him when Porto beat us and totally loved his antics when he was at all his other clubs.

Plus I do hate Wenger and find Benitez absurd so the presser was golden for me.

Last thing I wanna say is that one thing that impressed me which nobody seems to have pressed is that when he was talking about Giggsy he didnt stop there. He talked about Utd legends that are pundits (Scholes/Rio obvs) and said that even when they dont agree with him their opinion will be important and respected. Huge change to how LVG reacted to the (justified) digs by these pundits/ex legends. This is a man who sets himself the highest of standards (thus increasing the pressure he will be under) and is strong enough to come out with such pronouncements. GOD HOW MUCH WE HAVE MISSED THAT!!!

L,Equipe saying Matudi will sign. Think there reliable? 25m euros Ancollotti confirmed Bayern turned him down apparently.

I genuinely consider myself the biggest Rafa fan among the entire global CFC fan base

L'Equipe? If it's for PSG news usually. Anyone else is left to be desired. Their PSG agenda stinks. Really gone down as a publication from what they were.
