The Manchester United Thread

Lol, which role are you playing him and how is he doing?

Bought him to replace Verratti who went to PSG for 74M and playing him as a roaming playmaker in a midfield with Sven Bender as DM and Óliver (his sub is Isco :D) as AMC. Played only 2 pre-season friendlies but will let you know. :)

Ignoring how good he is and can be, Pogba is insanely marketable, the club will claw back tens of Millions in deals and image rights. Worst case scenario, he would end up at Madrid for even more than we pay. Best case scenarios we get to keep him. It's not like this money is going to otherwise used to bring down ticket prices. I'd rather see it spent than in the glazers' pockets

100million is a ridiculous amount but if you've got it to spend then why not?

As Mike mentioned, Pogba is extremely marketable and a signing of that calibre changes perception at a football club. United have fallen below expectation the past few years but the arrivals of Ibra, Mourinho and potentially Pogba changes all of that.

In the modern game you basically have to spend a lot of money to be a success, with only a few exceptions.

'POGBA WANTS REAL MOVE'

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has been on Sky Sports News HQ to give his thoughts on the future of Paul Pogba.
The Juventus playmaker has been linked with Manchester United, but Balague says:

"Pogba has made it very clear, to Real Madrid anyway, that he would like to be a Real Madrid player this summer.

"He has had conversations with Zinedine Zidane and he wants to play for Zidane. However, that doesn’t stop his agent, Mino Raiola, from getting other kinds of agreements.

"It has been reported that Manchester United may have a personal agreement with Pogba and it wouldn’t be the first time more than one agreement had been reached.

"In any case, while we’re unsure as to Raiola’s priorities, Pogba’s is to go to Real Madrid. We will have to wait a while to see how this pans out but one thing is certain, both Real Madrid and Manchester United want the player. "

Noooooo!!!

No what? So what if he would prefer Madrid, not that there's any proof of this. But if Zmadrid won't pay then it's tough **** and he will be ours. And tbh I would believe Amoyal, Ramano and Di Marzio who claim we already have an agreement with Pogba and Riola over ball bags who is an obvious Madtid fan and can't stand the fact that he might not go there.

Hope we have an actual backup though for Pogba. Who the **** it would be I don't know, but still.

Call me Mr cynical, but €120m on one player seems a bit insane to me.
Maybe I'm getting old, but that kind of cash can really go a long way in rebuilding a squad.

I think I'd rather see a clear out of players like Jones (who as you know, I f***ing despise), Fellaini, Rojo, Lingard, Januzaj and have them replaced with quality players, than vomit over 100 million on one player.

Man Utd want Pogba, Raiola started talks. But Juventus want to keep him. Agreement in place in principal. @guardian_sport

Probablyu Matiudi, or whether we could tempt Kroos from Madrid with his place under threat.

We've already rebuilt most of it. Expect 2 or 3 of those players to leave anyway

Pogba to Real will not happen. You can be sure of that after Raiola's 'facecloth comment'+His animosity with Perez not to mention Juve's exorbitant asking fee.

They need to bid first. ******* is pro spain/La Liga in everything he says.
i know that but when thay do he will go so we need to find some eles and not let it drag all summer see if kroos is getable

Don't really see how Matuidi would constitute as a replacement for Pogba, they are not even similar types of players.

Where does our creativity come from in midfield currently, someone who can dictate the game? Bringing in another player like Matuidi won't solve that issue. Yes I like Herrera but his lack of passing range makes him less effective.

Schweinsteiger could but we can't rely on him to do it only and he might not stay free from injury/fitness issues.

I wonder, if Madrid did indeed come in for Pogba, if 1, they'd allow Kroos to leave; and 2, just what sort of fee they'd want for him if they did having shelled out another World record on Pogba?

Exactly. More importantly, how much would Kroos agitate, Modric is clearly the midfield king.

They'd want a lot and adding point 3 to yours - Would they even want to sell to United given the relationship between two clubs after the De Gea saga? My answer is no and he would go to another club. PSG/Chelsea/Man City... would all be want him I imagine.
