Can't say I noticed any change. Remember how he pulled out of 50-50 tackle one game, costing you late goal and 3 points? Mata will never have the right mentality to be good defensively, it's always in the back of his head to avoid contact. Which is understandable of course given that he weights like 50 kilos, but it was never the case of him not working enough. He worked very hard in Chelsea too, but he just lacks that much needed tenacity in tackle.

You'll be suprised then. It's not about defensive tackling, but pressing, which isnt the same thing. He shouldnt be trying to make a last ditch 50/50, he should be harrying when the ball is lost, he did that excellently, not that LVG should have had him doing that down the right hand side, but thats beside the point

That's true. Everything is signed paperwork done. All we can do now is wait for an official announcement from one of the clubs. Then he will most probs have his medi after his hols. Just a waiting game now till its completed.

Just watching the game again. Loved Zlatans reaction to Rashfords play leading up to the peno. And so happy to see Shaw playing with complete confidence after a horrendous injury. Will be key his link up play with Martial and Pogba on that left hand side.

Yes. Shaw is incredibly gifted but has had rotten luck with injuries. If i believed in god id be praying daily to protect him.

It's not about "taking banter". it's about as funny and original as a car crash.

He was always a hard working player. And with LVGs structured approach the whole team looked well when pressing. Time will tell if they can still do it if Jose takes off the shackles.

Going in for 50/50's isnt the be all and end all. When does Carrick ever go in for a 50/50. He doesnt even go for headers 90% of the time. He just reads the game and puts himself into the best position. Cant put conceding a goal down to Mata not going in for a 50/50. If we conceded a goal it was because something wasnt right elsewhere, and it should have been dealt with before he was even put in that position.

Put it this way, if Carrick had a pair of bollocks we would have never lost that FA Cup semi to Portsmouth. The ball was 3 yards out and all Carrick had to do was fly in and put the ball over the line. He **** it coz he doesnt like going in for a tackle and the ball was cleared.

Not sure on everyone elses opinion but from what ive seen of Bailly hes absolute *****. He did do better against Galatasary, and hes not had a lot of games to show much but from what ive seen so far hes done nothing to show me he deserves to be in the team over somebody like McNair. £30m? Seriously? Im not one to jump in straight away, otherwise Vidic and Evra would have been gone after that derby, but ive just not seen anything from Bailly that is either worth him being in the squad or worth £30m.

There isn't a player better at his role at the club than Pogba zzeezzy. Marchisio is brilliant but they are different players, more like a mobile Carrick. There arent too many creative driving mids like Pogba who can defend around tbh. Bailly was good, but occasionally raw and impetuous. Takes time to put a defensive system together.

He doesn't break the line like Pogba does. Pogba has the capability to go beyond Marchisio and combine both roles. The whole point is to buy a player who is not only currently brilliant, but capable of getting even better, and still has a decade on him.

Pogba is an all round midfielder. He's quick, he can dribble, shoot, pass, tackle etc. Even Patrick Vieira said that's he's more talented than he ever was.

Marchisio is a more complete player than Carrick. Marchisio is much more aggressive and goes for 50/50s. Marchisio is nowhere near as physically gifted as Pogba.
