The Manchester United Thread

I have to say that with the 3 young strikers who have broken through this last few years (Keane, Wilson and Rashford) it is obvious who has the talent to make it at the top. Keane, poor lad, torrid time with injuries. Wilson, cracking debut, however I think he became a bit over-hyped, and I for one fell into that group. However Rashford, he is a breath of fresh heir. Almost revolutionary.

Still hold hope for Wilson his goal scoring record through the groups at all levels is great. But think this loan will be a huge decider if he makes it here or not.

Absolutely. Easy to dominate your peers and stand out at youth level. But you need something different to cut it in the top flight. Particularly in a skill position or striker. Used the example of Jerome Sinclair with L'pool above. Scored goals for fun in the youth ranks. But there's nothing to his game to separate himself from a PL defender the next level up. You see players at a young age like Giggs, Owen, McManaman, and you just know they'll be top players. Just absolute natural footballers totally unphased who ever they're playing with.

First time I saw Rashford was watching him a pub down Baker Street before the League Cup final last year against Arsenal. And it wasn't so much his two goals, but his movement. Selling players with a drop of the shoulder and ghosting past them the box. Just a natural footballer you just knew belonged at Utd and would have a long career the top the game all things being equal.

Players like Keane, Wilson and Sinclair, not so much.

If Keane had not had the injuries he would of been in the first team years ago under Fergie. His class was clear to see his movement on and off the ball was fantastic, had a great burst of pace and finishing was deadly. Way more talented than Rashford or Wilson imo.

No chance mate :D:D I still can't believe this kid is 18 years old, looks as if he's been playing for years. He's pacey, great feet, wants to take on men, composed finisher, intelligent, and what I like about him is the fact that for such a raw player, he rarely ever makes the wrong decision - he has all the ingredients, this boy can become one of the best imo. Put it this way, if he was off at Preston or QPR or whatever as Keane was sent off to, I have no doubt he would've scored goals. He's as good a striker as I've seen come up through the ranks in many a year. I'm firmly on the Marcus Rashford wank brigade haha.

Don't get me wrong I think Rashford is absolutely fantastic but as a pure STR Keane was better for me prior injuries. And tbh Rashford was not even a STR coming through the ranks he was an attacking midfielder.

Just reading the German is pondering the MLS ..... If the offers there, take it with both hands. Shouldn't even think twice! But then it all comes down to money. And the big contract he's on is proving a real stumbling block for Utd.

Mourinho's made it perfectly clear he's not wanted without outright saying 'just do one lad will yer!' Munich, if everyones honest. sold you an injury ridden dud that was all but done the top level. And now he's willing to sit on his money whilst talking about wanting to fight for a place he's never gonna' win back.

Just go the MLS or wherever and see out your career with no worries.

I could be wrong mate, but is the window not shut over there?

He actually also said he still wants to play for United (it was the first thing he said) and will be ready if called upon.

Wages are 150k a week, he'd make more in the MLS so it's not a money thing.

Not sure what people want him to do tbh. He has to have options if he can't change Jose's mind.

Depends where he goes the MLS and what the market/ sponsorship is as to what the wages are.

I know he's said he wants to play for Utd. But he's not going to so it's just hollow words in reality if we're honest.

Don't know why he'd want to stay shy of as yet not receiving a better financial offer. Shrugs.

Because he wanted to play for United.

He'd be a designated player, and name his price. Like Pirlo/Lampard etc

As far as I know along with the window being closed in the MLS and making this all pointless I don't think any team in a big location i.e. New York, LA or Orlando has a free designated player spot that would be needed to afford Bastian. And I doubt the prospect of playing in Kansas City would be as much of a pull as New York
