The Manchester United Thread

So has the Mourinho doomsday clock started?

That was a shocking organizational display by a Mourinho managed team.

Seriously don't get the Mourinho bashing here. He can't do much if your defense just decides not to show up. Atrocious individual performances more to blame than anything else.

Are you having a laugh? Your entire fan base was drooling over Mourinho after the disaster that was LVG and Moyes.

Drooling over any prospect of change isn't hard with them two in charge is it? I think our fans were more excited about any kind of change than Mourinho, fans been very mixed with him, he's like marmite some love some hate.

I think the point was 'by default.' After they f-ed up Pep, and let Klopp slip by, they were left with no choice.

And after LVG, ANYONE would be an improvement. Mourinho might be a boring, negative ____, but he get's wins. And when you're coming from a position of very few wins, it's something for them to get behind.

The hate only began once he started losing games. Before that, it was only joy and glee when he got the likes of Ibra and Pogba to come in the summer and played up United as the biggest club in the world.

Everyone just needs to take a step back and calm down, poor defensive performance but come on - Rome wasn't built in a day.

Bailly with a Knee Ligament injury :( :( :( :(

Jose wilk be a success most probably by his second season as always.

BTW, FWIW, IMO one thing that has been standing out to me is you desperately need to play either Rashford or Martial in their proper position. Centre forward. Even if it means dropping Ibrahimovic and having to deal with his ego. He's so easy to defend against at his age it's unreal. But a Martial or Rashford who moves, has pace, and get's in behind would be a completely different animal.

That's understandable tho, since his job isn't only sign the stars, it is also getting them to fit and perform in his tactics.

Or, and this is a general point as regards managers, if you don't have the players to fit, you swallow your pride and adapt your system to fit the strengths of what you do have until you can get in the players you want. That's the sign of a top class coach.

Like someone else says Bailly with knee ligament damage, huge blow, even worse when you look at our alternative options we're going to have to rely on. Ok Blind and Smalling isn't bad, but jeez we're scraping the barrel after them two.

Problem is, what is that system for United? What system or style would even work that well for them? They have four halves of 4 great teams which, for the money they've spent, is shameful (and endlessly hilarious :D) The worst thing is, they don't even have the versatility to adapt dynamically to opponents because those halves just don't mesh together in a cohesive way. You can't really run a counter attacking team with Mata and Zlatan, a great possession based squad with Pogba but no other real passer in midfield, a staunch defensive unit without a real DM etc etc.

Well that's another touchy subject. Until maybe this summer, there's been very little plan behind Woodward's spending. It's been like the '80's when they were just throwing more money than anyone at any big name trying to buy the title back.

That type of mismanagement is going to take a lot of patience and sorting out. But you have to admit you've a sub standard squad for Utd to allow someone to do that to begin with.

Touchy subject.

*Edit* And after you've just annihilated them 4, it's probably far from the best time to broach things like that whilst emotions are high so best leave Utd fans to discuss it out mate.

With Zlatan no, but Rashford you can. This is what he needs to think long and hard about. For me Zlatan is only useful for finishing off chances, which he has failed to do in last 3 games, apart from that he's offering very little.

For me, I'd drop Zlatan and go with Rashford up top but he won't because Zlatan is his lovechild.

Why do people consider LVG a disaster? They were Def some good positives to take from his tenure...not a complete disaster at all but we just felt he'd taken us as far as he could

Be **** if rumours are true about Bailly being out for 6 months! Least he will miss the AFCON. Reckon Tuanzebe will get promoted, especially after Mou bigging him up in a few recent interviews. And MUTV. Reckon he will do very well. Miles to good at u23s level. Future starter at Utd imo. Let's be honest it's not like Smalling, Blind are **** players even Jones who is nearing a return. Add Rojo who is solid enough for rotation in some games. Then the talent of Tuanzebe and TFM, but he's a better CM/DM.

If we want a no nonsense tough guy midfielder, why don't we play TFM instead of Fellaini? He is much better in a footballing sense as well and probably stronger truth be told.

I'm really sick of seeing Fellaini and Lingard starting week in week out. We have Martial, Depay and Mkhitaryan who are all better than Lingard in an attacking sense. Yes I know his work rate is good but apart from that.

Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, TFM, Carrick and the best we can play is ****** Fellaini in midfield.
