They're moving into a new 68,000 seater stadium next season and need the cash. Also, Simeone is allegedly not going to stand in the player's way. He has a €100 Million release clause. It's clear United are prepared to all least pay close to it.

Even if they were thinking of cashing in the summer, there's 3/4 months of this season left.

That makes no sense why you'd distract a key player like that. And then there's the knock-on with other teammates and the support.

That's another mistake. The 4-2-3-1 is a fundamentally flawed formation. The only manager I can remember winning the UCL with it in recent history was Jupp Heynckes. Even then, he had some sort of magic on his side. If Mourinho has enough sense, I can't see the 4-2-3-1.

County the numerous of times the clueless pundits say that a player 'should have scored'. The reality is that they'd exceed the number of goals scored in football.

No really mate those chances I mentioned should of been put away no doubt. Yes the keeper made a good save but Pogba should of done a lot better it was to close to the keeper and a favourable hieght. Rashford just blew his wad and scuffed a guilt edge chance after doing the hard part controlling a taking pass from Pogba over his shoulder, leaving him clean through with no defender within a metre of him. Zlatan just shanked his effort wide from 8 yard out. Really need to be putting those chances away, but we've seen so many times in games we've drawn the players have not been clinical enough!

Don't think it effects players tbh. Especially when it's been pretty obvious since the start of the season he's Mourinho next piece of the puzzle. And funny enough his form has picked up since Christmas when the news really started circling. Maybe he can play with freedom and clear though now his future is sorted. And can give Atletico his all and best for the remainder of his time there.

Kevin Keegan springs instantly to mind. Deal agreed with Hamburg for the following season. He got accused all season long of not putting it in all year long. From the support more than anyone. Regardless of the fact he was an absolute legend and the team got within a whisker of a league/ FA and European Cup treble. He opened himself and the team up to controversy all that season.

The knock-on effect if a club where to 'officially' do that is potentially disastrous. Be stupid to allow that before the summer and take the chance that he'd still give everything/ his teammates would be sound with it/ there'd be no fan backlash et all.

You'd have to be an exceptional strong character to not let it effect you. Madrid's season starts slipping away. Meh, I'm not here next year anyway.

As it happens, I can't find anything official from Madrid that say's they are gonna' sell him let alone that they've given him permission to speak to anyone.

*Edit* And he just extended last summer through 2021 in a big new deal. There shouldn't be any uncertainty over his future just a year into that.

I know he ultimately won Milan's last title but that was a hard Milan side to watch under Max.

I forget the season. One of Rafa's last. Where L'pool smashed the record for the amount of times the woodwork was hit. It started out 'Oh FFS! We can't buy any luck/ Can we get any more unlucky?' etc. Which the more it kept happening as the season rolled changed to 'FFS! Just what the F do these clowns do in training that they can't get the ball inside that white thing! That's not being unlucky. That's just **** poor finishing' etc.

It fast runs thin when the same thing happens over and over and you then look hard at your own failings.

That would be those same dodgy refs that missed the offside in your equaliser against us?

I don't get all this hype about 'the first phase', yes it's true that there are far better managers than Mourinho at it such as LVG and Pep Guardiola etc etc.

But ultimately, playing out from the back and having an insistence on it in this league is suicide a lot of the time. Just look at City this season and Pep trying to do it with that defence.

I'll take a manager like Mourinho any day who actually managers to get the ball in the opponents box more than once in a game than someone like LVG who gets us to build from the back and we watch a game of our team passing it in the wrong direction to try and score a goal.

Don't remember. This is a good example. Van Gaal was great in the first phase. Van Gaal's problem was his inability to offer anything in the way of coaching beyond the first phase. As a result, he deserved the sack.

Anyways, you can't blame this all on mourinho. They've been sooooo many matches this season that we've drawn where we shouldn't have honestly. A common theme is the lack of finishing. You can blame mourinho for anything else BUT finishing. Finishing is down to the players and not the manager. We're top 3 in chances created in the epl but our conversion rate is somewhere around 13th. Under LVG, we were so clinical in front of goal but created little.

All reports for years have said that he has massive respect for Simeone. Even if his head is turned for a summer move, he isn't going to stop playing at his best for Atletico this year.

To be honest I was hoping for better this season but considering all the mess he had to undo of LVG and the squad problems we have. I will truly judge Mourinho next season, that is what makes or breaks his reign at United.

Although top 4 this season is still a must in my eyes, if we don't get that it's a massive failure.
