The Manchester United Thread

United need a regular scorer, Rashford isn't ready and needs a few more seasons to really be effective (he's not yet consistent enough to lead the line whilst Rooney is now past it as a first choice). Griezmann would be nice if rumours are true but at this point I would rather wait and see.
Ducker who is usually the most reliable has said on numerous occasions that the work with the players has already started. And Di Marzio has said he's Mourinho No1 target this Summer. Still need another attacker though.

The thing about Griezmann, even though he has 58 in 102 over the last 3 seasons, he's not an out & out prolific goalscorer. If United sign him, I'd still expect another striker if Mourinho's not happy with what he's got.

Which leads to the next debate....

Have Martial & Rashford stalled, or dare I say went backwards under Mourinho? A proven winner Mou is, no doubt, and I'm confident of him bringing success back to this club, most likely via chequebook... But is his nurturing of young attacking players more of an issue than we refused to believe when everyone told us, and we brushed it off? There's a difference between throwing them out there, criticising them if they don't pull up trees.... and progressing and protecting them!

Yeah... what's your thoughts? Griezmann coming in would not be just to add goals but quality and consistency we seriously lack in the final 3rd. Don't think they have gone backwards tbh. Think it's just inconsistency and the fact they were both so good in there break through seasons. They will be fine. Another thing that's clear as day is that teams are definitely double even sometime tripling up on them this season.

How about Dybala or Morata?
Morata maybe a no no especially if Madrid play hard ball and want De Gea.
Dont rate Morata at all and would not offer us anything more than Rashford. Dybala would absolutely love him here tbh. Easily best young STR in world football imo. In fact not just young STRs. He can mix it with the best at any age.

Absolutely no chance of top 4 now. How can you go half a season unbeaten and still be absolute ****? Definitely need to win the Europa now

A certain stat analyst looked at Arsenal's points total now and compared it to the last 5 years. Turns out that we've been remarkably consistent and that we're marginally worse than last season. What's changed?

It's simple. The top 6 are the strongest it's ever been in premier league history. It's not a case of United/Arsenal being bad. Last season, the points Arsenal/United are on would have been top 3. The other sides have just improves. Mourinho/Wenger are being exposed. Wenger was finished years ago and we've seen Mourinho's relative decline since his Real Madrid spell.

I couldn't give you a clear answer now tbh mate, head's confused. Big 2 points lost, big downer. He obviously isn't happy with the consistency of 2-3 of the lads in attacking areas, but he has to remember that if you take Mkhitaryan out of that front 4 today, then Rashford/Lingard/Martial have an average senior game count of 74 matches! It's inexperience. It's what you're going to get.

I think he may sign Griezmann and possibly an experienced out & out scorer to rotate with and inherit Zlatan. Fight for all competitions next season, suspensions & injuries a given, it wouldn't be out of the question.

Morata has fired a team to the Champions league final at 21 years old scoring vs City, Dortmund, Madrid (twice) and Barcelona in the final. His numbers since his Madrid days have been exceptional. Over 1 expected goal/assists per 90 this season. He's a million miles further ahead than Rashford.

I genuinely fear for Rashford. His development is being stalled on the left wing. He's now playing as a 1v1 player out wide that's solely dependant on his pace, much like Kingsley Coman. This is bad. Rashford needs minutes up top.

Lastly, Dybala is an impossible signing. Don't even discuss it. Almost as rediculous as the suggestion of Neymar. Unlike Pogba, Dybala isn't expendable. Besides, I don't see a reason for him leaving Juve.

United can't afford to go longer without Champions league football. Given the quality of players, United should be challenging for the title. Problems are all relative to coaching. United have been pitiful vs deep blocks.

Totally agree. Interesting that he said there will be some interesting signings this summer. Maybe in the STR department. Can't think of any names though that are easy to get. Cavani, Augebamyang, Benzema, Dybala.

Would love Cavani.

Hes not ready to lead the line for us yet. He's been pretty poor when playing up top. Not his fault, he's just not ready yet. Morata has been good but he would not fix out goal scoring problems when Zlatan is out. Agree Dybala will be super difficult to get! Not impossible though.

It's not like we have problems opening deep defences, the problem is rubbish finishing when we do carve out chances.

Yes a player with good hold up play and would fit Mourinho style of play. Plus 40 goals in 43 apps this season is clearly not good enough :O
A bucket load coming from the French league. He was the reason why PSG finished 2nd in UCL group stages instead of 1st.

The guy misses some really awful sitters in defining moments. He's the guy that misses the net when you need him the most

Earlier in the season it was the case but it's averaged out over the course of the season. United have huge deep block problem. Shot ratios were shocking today. Seen United's expected goals. Finishing has evened out over the whole season. Completely impotent in attack today. Credit to West Brom. Pulis is a top tactician. Organises the best deep block in the league.
Cavani? **** no. I'd rather take a chance with morata

Morata isn't much of a chance at all. Would easily score 20+ in the prem.

Huge myth. Cavani is a clinic striker. His movement gets him on the end of so many chances that he scores many and misses many. Very little to do with his league. Top striker.

You obviously haven't seen a lot of Cavani bar the little highlight videos here & there of his barren spell. As you seen, Zlatan has missed more than his fair share of chances this season. The main thing is they're getting on the end of them and scoring more than they miss. How many got on the end of something today?
