The Manchester United Thread

Looked like an ankle to me, no point arguing about it though, we'll find out soon enough.

Poor performance against a mediocre side you managed to make look decent but getting through is the name of the game in knockout football and is all that ultimately matters.

The question now comes at what cost with your only serious goal threat this season not looking too clever at all?

Not fazed by lyon or vigo or celta tbh. We can only defeat ourselves if we make a tie harder that it has to be. This tie should've been over in the first leg but we made it harder for ourselves and it's cost us 2 key players.

You ******* moron, it's obviously a knee.

Also, great irony in Besiktas - Lyon game is that both Serb and Croat missed penalty for Besiktas |)

Let's be honest, that highlighted statement was only valid for a 25-30 minute spell in the first half XD It was attack v defence for the remaining 75 minutes.

As for Zlatan, bad to see, but I think Marcus has shown not only last season, but again lately, that he's capable of stepping up to do a job down the middle. Only worrying thing is the cover after him.

I think rashford can hold down the fort while zlatan is injured. He's looked very confident lately.

No, it really wasn't if you want to be brutally honest. You struggled over 120 minutes (210 over both legs) to get past a very poor Anderlecht side. Anderlecht. Not Real Madrid. For long stretches they were every bit Utd's equal. Regardless of the late chances when their legs went. Anf they still had enough of their own. You've been far from impressive this campaign to have this clear favourite tag.

Situations reversed I'm coming out of Anfield going 'Well that was utter ***** but we're in the draw and have another trip to look forward to so town it is!' or words to that effect.

However you want to cut it, it was poor again. But you got through and that's ultimately ALL that counts. Being in the draw.

You give some odd assessments Scouse, but that's the thing about this game, opinions :)

Out of interest, who would you make favourites? And would you offer me more than the general price of 'evens' on Utd to win it out?

Biggest club, best squad, under a manager that's never lost a Europa League K.O round tie, specializes in big stages, and is throwing the kitchen sink at it - bookies have it right imo.

You offer a homer view. I don't. That's the disconnect.

I think your best bet is pulling Ajax. Young and inexperienced. Although that isn't too clever for your fans as Utd are hated in Holland and particularly in Amsterdam where there's a lot of previous so that one could be a naughty trip.

I'd give Lyon or Vigo a fair chance as they'd be the first real quality you'd of faced. Can't see Lacazette or Aspas the form he's been in wasting the chances others have against Utd right through this campaign. Nobody likes it when it's said but this Utd side just doesn't scare anyone. It might going forward with the reported money set to be spent. But right now it just doesn't. And even less so if your one serious goal threat is out.

You could do with DDG in nets from here on out but that would be a completely ***** trick to lay on Romero at this stage and would face losing the trust between players and manager.

No. Just no scouse. Like I said earlier, this tie should've been buried last week. Anderlecht scored with their only shot on target meanwhile we create shed loads if clear cut chances and put away none.

The first half wasn't good enough today I'll admit but we dominated in the 2nd plus extra time. We made it a lot harder on ourselves than we should've, which has been our problem for much of this season

Ajax is the best bet, they're involved in a tight title race first of all, so they can't afford focusing on the semis. Celta are playing for nothing in the league atm, so they'll go balls deep for EL, and Lyon are probably best squad of the 3.

And yeah, he could put DDG in the nets, shouldn't be a problem if he plays Romero in the league instead.

Mate you're making the point. You made it hard work because you struggled to put them away and they had enough chances of their own. They just lacked any quality. You struggled to put away a very mediocre Belgium side. And laboured for large periods when they looked your equal across the park. That's'not a good display. Congratulations on progressing. But let's not window dress this to something it wasn't.

We're in April now. This has been happening all season long. That's not the sign of an unlucky side. That's the sign of a poor one.

All those L'pool PL sides you used to laugh at? That flattered to deceive and couldn't finish the job? You've become them.

You'd be seriously ****** off though wouldn't yer? You've more or less played every game to this point. And when you can almost touch the silverware, you're back the bench.

It's a tricky one for the manager to weigh up.

As "bad" as Zlatan has been lately, I really hope he's not career ending injured.. :(

And hopefully Rojo is fit for next game..
