The Manchester United Thread

He never made a first bid tbh.

I'm getting to hate transfer windows more and more.

The rumours, which 9 times out of 10 are utter B/S, get beyond nauseating. And it's always the same (often uninformed) names piggybacking off one another.

My random guy on Twitter is a better source than your random guy from Twitter.

Fight me.

If he misses out on CL though, people are gonna start asking questions, because sooner or later the reality hits that "proven winner" and "best manager in the world" only actually managed to win one trophy of note in last 5 years, despite spending endless millions.

I'm confused how you managed to come up with this, because he's won more. The league cup with us and the Premier League with Chelsea two seasons back. That gives him two in the last 2/3 years, without even thinking anything further back.

Because Juve is same like Bayern... Buying every good player from their league, weakening competition and then walking through championship. Seriously dislike clubs that operate like that.

zz, this is what you've been missing all season as we've gone back and forth on this. This is what being a football fan at the match is all about.

L'pool are more than likely gonna' finish in the Champions League spots. There's a fair chance Utd will be in the Europa League again next season. As much as I live for European trips (currently 21 in Vigo. A few days in Porto then hopping over the border to sunny Vigo .... Nah, not envious of that at all as I type ..... ), and as much as L'pool FC needs to be in the Champions League, I'd happily swap that for silverware and a final day out. Which is still wanting the best for my club. Just another way of wanting that than yourself.

I know you don't get that, which is fine. Just the difference between a match going fan and a non-match going fan.

The woeful French record in European Club football continues. Sighs.

I know a few disagree in here, but Ligue 1 is not a strong league. There's some talented individuals at the top clubs. But overall it is what it is. And 1 (questionable given what Tapie was found guilty of) European Cup and 1 Cup Winners Cup makes that not too clever.

I used to go to games a lot, now I don't due to financial issues and I moved away from Manchester a long time ago so that kind of inhibits me going to home games as well.

But anyway, I don't think it would change my mind on the Europa League, it's a competition that irks me more than I can ever like it simply because of how it is organised, how the games are scheduled and a few other factors. But I have to say that the champions league spot guarantee if you win it, has made it a LOT more interesting now than it ever was before.

But still, I know people say there isn't much difference 'Wednesday to Saturday' or 'Thursday to Sunday'. But you're looking at it wrong, because the recovering time is often longer because your games in CL aren't always on a Wednesday for a start, they can be on a Tuesday, Plus lets not forget that a lot of our league games are played on a Sunday now, so the likelihood is if you are a team in CL you will get slightly longer recovery time than you would from an EL game to your next league match.

I'm with you on that. I love CL footy, but I would rather finish 5th and get it via a trophy, than finish 4th. After all, don't we want to play CL and dream of lifting it against the best?

I do get what zz means about how the comp is set up though, could be so much better. Straight knockouts all the way

The last thing United do in any deals these days is bid. That's a formality. Everything else gets done first, and unless United and Monaco have had the most secret of meetings, i highly doubt any kind of package has been struck with Mbappe's agent.

So colour me sceptical when I hear we've bid for anyone.

He's won one trophy of note - premier league with Chelsea. That's it. Mickey mouse cup here and there is nice, but you don't hire Mourinho and give him ocean of money to win league cups or spanish super cups.

im confident we will go to old trafford with a positive result, think it will be 1-1 tonight

Yeah, of all the rumours, Aulas selling so low, even moving toward the last year of his contract, is one of the most out there yet.

*Edit* Aside from the fact Atlético still have the transfer ban until January. Even if they have taken that to CAS.

Dont think it's that out there tbh. It's been said for weeks he's there No1 target and talks already started. The price might not be true but the player wants to leave and not long left on his contract.

lyon could have squeezed an extra 10 million at least from a PL team
