The Manchester United Thread

It's clear that for all their attacking intent this Ajax side is not really suited to facing a brick wall defence which is what they are coming up against.

Anyone feel Rashford been getting a lack of protection out there? At least two clear fouls on him that weren't pulled up.

Finished I guess. A bit a shame that deflected goal set up the entire game on the plate for United, this could have been fun match. Ajax are interesting team for sure but chasing the score from the start was definitely too much for these youngsters.

Great team performance. Mourinho tactically spot on they never got a sniff in the game. EL Champions and back in Europes elite competition. Absolutely buzzing! Pogba MOTM for me. (6)

Hope Manchester is proud they deserve this after what has happened! We love you Manchester! Thoughts with all! :(

Notthe most exciting game in the world but one to be satisfied with. Now they need to build on this with some decent signings over the summer.

This signals an achievement which few be able to boast of. United have joined the elite group of clubs to have won all 3 of the big European Cups, consisting of the Champions League (European Cup as was), the Europa League (UEFA Cup as was) and the now defunct Cup Winners Cup.

Fellaini... outstanding! He was everywhere tonight! I never thought I'd be saying this but I actually would like him to stay, he will be so useful in certain gameplans next season against different opposition.

He always gives 100% and there is no player quite like him!

Congratulations guys!

As I expected Mourinho would analyse Ajax well and knew what he had to do. He knew Ajax would always want to have the ball and he analysed the best games of Ajax this season very well. He noticed that Ajax comes best into play when there's quick play going and many duels are being fought. Duels were perfectly avoided by shooting the balls to Fellaini and great first touches/passes from other on the second ball to avoid any press at moments it could've gotten tricky.

Bit disappointed in Ajax that they didn't put more aggression into the game. They played way too neat/respectful/calm. You noticed that Sanchez wanted too much to make a difference and the CB's dribbeled too much, instead of making passes forward. Passes forward were missing in general and as the whole season the wings only wanted the ball in their feet instead of behind the defence where the possibilities were.

Congratulations again. I hope you will enjoy this victory a lot :)

Cheers mate, appreciate the kind words. I think it was a tactical masterstroke by Mourinho that made Ajax look very ordinary!

But this is a victory for Manchester, to all the victims and their families.

What a fantastic end to a season, 2 (arguably) 3 trophies and back in CL most importantly.
