The Manchester United Thread

The only thing stalling the Morata deal is his wedding and honeymoon imo. It's been well reported that we have a deal with the player and his agent. I'm sure by the time he's back the clubs will have agreed a deal between each other.

Madrid might hesitate to agree any deal whilst this Ronaldo saga rolls on because if he does go you can be sure they will not want to lose Morata as well.

Yeah, only thing we can do now is sit back and see how it plays out

Think it will be sorted in early next week. Morata deal won't be either way as he will be on his honeymoon for a week or 2.

The only thing holding up Morata is the fee negotiation between the two clubs.

Ronaldo isn't going anywhere, and they would just blow any money on Mbappe anyway

Would be very underwhelming.

He's very much wanted by Jose. Hope to be proven wrong. But Jose has always been excellent at fixing a teams faults going into second season so its hard to fault him tbh. Disagree, but happy to be wrong.

Marca:

In the case of Morata, his departure to Mourinho's United is so advanced that it could be closed next week independently of what happens to the Portuguese. The striker is fully convinced of his departure.

Don't really need this tbh. We already know he's ready to leave. What we need is an official agreement between the club's.

I wouldnt be paying £50m for Dier and taking more game time away from TFM. We even have Blind who can do a job there when needed. Depending on formation next season, Pogba and Herrera are starting the majority of games so no point spending £50m on a player that would potentially be sat on the bench most weeks if we go 4-2-3-1.

Get a right and left back for £25m each which would make the squad a **** of a lot stronger (if Darmian and Young are going), and use TFM and Tuanzebe more, along with Pereira in the squad.

Hope to see more of Tuanzebe, TFM next season and Periera. Think the first 2 will end up going out on loan. Can't see us signing any RB or LB for 25m each especially not both. Can't think of that many good FBs available for that price! Would rather give game time too CBJ, Varela, Riley, Mitchell and spend money elsewhere. FBs not a priority for me this Summer.

We're in back the Champions League now mate, any position that warrants improving or needs more stability, is a priority. "it's fine, we'll stick it out in those areas" doesn't cover it, now is the time to bolster and prepare to try and fight on all fronts. I'd say LB is definitely an area to look at with the whole lack of trust/clarity in Shaw, and if Darmian leaves, we need a back-up/rotational solid RB too.

Would only sign a FB IF Darmian and Young leaves. Defo a LB if he does. We are not exactly short atm. Valencia, Shaw, Darmian, Blind, Rojo, Tuanzebe, TFM, Mitchell, Young, CBJ, Riley, Varela, Bailly, Lindelöf can all play FB even Smalling and Jones at RB. Like I said if a few leave defo, especially LB. Just can't see us spending 40-50m without it being absolute necessity.

Valencia, Darmian, Shaw and Blind are the only ones I'd be confident going into CL K.O game with at FB. If Darmian's gone, that leaves it at 1 RB & 2 LB's. If Shaw's injured, and his track record would make it difficult to dismiss the thought, then we're down to 1 RB & 1 LB that's trusted.

You've named a host of CB's and youth players who half of them aren't natural in this position mate. In the words of Jose, we need "specialists" in respective positions. FB's definitely an area to look at, if just for natural quality in depth alone.

Yeah that's fair enough. But can't rule them out completely depends what he thinks of the youth coming through.

I hope Darmian stays, been really good end of the season and great to have someone who can play both LB/RB!
