The Manchester United Thread

Perez has been played like a fiddle by Woody again? Ha!

I wouldn't say played like a fiddle. Firstly because neither deal is official. And secondly it's just United trying to make sure they have bases covered. Where United seem to have done well is using Rooney and a potential to generate good will with Everton over any deal, lowering any potential costs

i for one am happy we aint buying morata now dont get me wrong i prefer morata and i think he is the better player but i hate perez most of all with a passion and he was basically trying to rip us off with either a no deal or ridiculous price so and im glad we aint funding them to buy mbappe well done woodward on sticking it to madrid for the 2nd time :D

I am extremely torn here..I'd like Morata to stay at Madrid coz I am a Madrid fan, but I don't want Lukaku at Utd..

No, Woody didnot play Perez like a fiddle.Perez simply refused to budge from his asking price.

First things first: we absolutely need to land one of them

Secondly we shouldn't celebrate that either as our work isn't done. We need a passing DM, and ideally passing righr back. A multi positional attacking mid/forward wouldn't go amiss either

I find it hard to see Matic coming if we get Lukaku from under Chelsea's noses. Not that I'd be bothered really if we didn't get Matic as long as there is another DM incoming.

I'm fine with Lukaku over Morata. Lukaka is used to the country, used to the league, and a proven goalscorer in the league. All good signs.

Clubs don't work to spite each other that way. They would have known for ages he was a target. Bakayoko is what will hold up matic. They don't want to sell him anyway, but matic wants out

Well I'm convinced Madrid were making it as hard as possible for us over Morata because of the De Gea saga.

But Chelsea business is a bit odd this summer, as someone has pointed out, they are usually quick and decisive. No idea what is holding up the Bakoyoko deal but can see why Conte is rumoured unhappy.

Just normal paperwork holding up the deals. Bakayoko and Rudiger are done. Also not sure where you got this quick and decisive idea from because it could not be farther from the truth the last 2 summers.

Under Mourinho you seemed more efficient in the transfer market than you are now. But then again we know Mourinho hands transfer targets very early, but I'm sure Conte does as well. Obviously there is exceptions to everything but I just feel that you haven't been that decisive this transfer window compared to normal. I really expected you to get Lukaku.

I'm just wondering why all of a sudden United have seemingly pulled out on Morata? Probably because Madrid are messing us about but maybe he has committed to Madrid for another season? God knows.

All I do know is that Morata or Auabamayang (if his move to China hasn't progressed) is your only two options really. If they can't be pursued then you really need to hold on to Costa or else you might have to go all in for Belotti which is like a 100million euro release clause.

Striker situation was always going to be tricky this summer. Chelsea will definitely have other targets and will pursue them accordingly. Club knew deal with Everton was going to be hard to reach.

Never efficient in the market under Mourino except 14/15 summer. Not sure what you mean by not decisive in the market this summer anyways tbh. Bakayoko and Rudiger done already with the latter done very quickly. Transfers like that of Lukaku by nature cannot be done quickly because A) Everton do not like us and B)The price they demanded of us was a world record fee and they were adamant on it.

well it would appear it most certainly is dead now as lukaku is the focus??

Its dead when or if Lukaku signs, and vice versa. United basically don't want to come away with neither

Just have to wait and see how it develops today and tomorrow. If he did sign would be handy him being in LA. And suppose would sign and do his medical there.

i think it could be done by the weekend and also the rooney deal

I recognize Stormzy, but have no idea who's that guy with glasses.

Just a random thought but Lukaku has #10 for Everton, if Rooney leaves and Lukaku takes #10 then Martial can go back to #9 and IMO Rashford take #7 and Lingard get #11? Anyone else agrees? :D

Where's this myth grown from that transfers get done mega quickly and everyone expects such now? Transfers take time and a whole multitude of factors can hold them up. Often down to neither club. Particularly major ones .....

Here's the top 5 British record deals, and the date they were completed:

Pogba- 9 Aug.
Di Maria-26 Aug.
De Bruyne-30 Aug.
Sterling-14 July.
Stones- 9 Aug.

City do some business quick this year and suddenly everyone is narking 'why aren't we spending? We're getting left behind!' Had it with dimwit L'pool fans narking over Salah. Which was 3 weeks from start to finish. Not long at all in reality.

Top six transfer ins so far:

CFC: Caballero.
THFC:
MCFC: Silva, Ederson.
LFC: Solanke (If you even class him as a first team transfer right here, right now), Salah.
AFC: Kolasinac, Lacazette.
MUFC: Lindelof.

I HATE windows. People get SO transfixed on rumours and expect things they lose all reality of how the footie business works. Give me the system pre-Bosman ANY day of the week.

Not even a full week in the window yet. Sheez.
