Quick review.

FIRST HALF. 10/10
Was great, scored 3 brilliant goals. And everything from defense, midfield to attack looked absolutely great, a mix of possession, high pressure and counter attack. Complete performance!

SECOND HALF. 4/10
Bad half, Scored 2 goals but conceded 2 absolute **** goals.
But we can blame that on pre-season, new players, new formation and new positions for some players.
  • Lukaku had 2 bad shots but other than that he did great in his role, absolute beast. Was unlucky to have Martial next to him.(Martial took some bad decisions in shots where he could've passed etc..)
  • Pereira played lone DM with Pogba and Mkhitaryan in front of him, was great in build up play with great technique and passing. But his defensive side of the game wasn't very good. But it's nice for him to see the game from another PoV!
  • Lindelöf AKA Iceman! Calm, composed, fast and confident! Liked him a lot!
Could write more but too tired! Roll on next pre-season game on Tuesday morning(?) same time.

Wouldnt of give the first half 10/10. There were a few times the wing backs were out of possition dragging the CBs out wide to cover for them. And the CMs looked a bit all over the place at times not knowing which was sitting and so on. Would say 8/10. Plus it was against there reserve side.

Second half would 6/10 against there first team. Team lacked serious balance as TFM was all over the place at RWB leaving the defence way unbalanced on his side dragging Bailly over to cover was leaving holes. And left Lindelöf exposed for there first. Was no balance in the CM area, way to attacking with Pogba, Periera, Mky in there. Periera tried to sit but didn't seem natural for him. And the link up play between the two forwards Martial and a Lukaku didn't seem there. Mainly due to Martial drifting wide to often. As in the first half Mata and Rashford were always close to each other working in tandem.

Was really impressed with the 3 CBs in the second half of Bailly, Lindelöf, Tuanzebe. All class on the ball and dominant in the tackle. WBs let them down big time. Glad Mourinho said afterwards it was just a test that system. Just don't think it will work with our current FBs and doesn't really suit our team overall. Periera looked class from an unatutal role at DLP. Got caught out at times letting there CM run onto our defence. But his composure on the ball and passing was great not to mention his corners were very good too. Will be great cover for Pogba this season imo. Special shout out to Lingard looked superb as WB first half. Not the best defensively, but going forward his decision making and link up play with Rashford and Mata was superb grabbing 2 assist. My player of the half!

All in all for me was a good first game the lads looked sharpe from the off, pressing linking up well with a better balance in the first half. Second half against a better side and not so much balance in the team not so good. Could defo see what Lukaku will bring this season. Pace, Power and someone willing to hold up play and bring others in like Zlatan. But offers that pace in behind and in the channels. Rashford looked in beast mode with that blistering pace and dribbling, but has bulked up a fair bit too. Herrera doing what Herrera does just buzzing around breaking up play releasing quick ball to the attackers. Lindelöf looks like he and Bailly gonna be class, perfect completing CB partnership. Didn't realise how fast he was until he drove out from the back beat 4 players with pure pace and a bit of skill, and nearly set up a goal. Reminded me a bit of Stam but with a bit more finess. Good signs heading into the next match!!

Yep! Just watching it again lol. Woeful side!!! And what's with all the confetti **** after there 2 goals. They did realise they were 5 goals against :)
 
The hate Lukaku is getting after one pre-season half of a friendly... sigh... modern football.

Not referring to here btw, just generally.

Remember that when he's doubtless not arsed at times for Utd and you get as frustrated with him as Evertonians did.

Given you're pretty emotional in the moment with your posts. :)

Criticism is a part of life but come on.. it's one half of a friendly in pre-season.

Plus I thought his effort yesterday was one thing you couldn't fault, his finishing and perhaps his touch yes. But it's just modern football, frustratingly.
 
pathetic if anyone can criticise someone in a pre season game especially when its their first appearance for the club.pre season games this early on are all about getting fit and sharp,anything else can be disregarded.i remeber under lvg we went unbeaten pre-season and look how that went

Conpletey with you. People are ******* morons if they put much of anything on anything on preseason regardless.

Just looking ahead and the way you passionately get caught up in the moment and end up with a load of narking at yer on here.

For what it's worth, Martial already looks 10x happier than last season. Seems to be enjoying his football/life again.
 
Apparently Keita Balde from Lazio is going to Inter, most likely as replacement for Perisic.
 
Very good news, best #2 in world football for me. Nice comfort knowing he's there to deputize if needed.

Yep! Great to have 3 top class keepers all at different ages by the time Romero leaves. Periera will be ready to step up to be No1 or 2.
 
Nah, i really don't rate periera from what i've seen. Would've been better off with the Savic guy.
 
Sounds like Matic and Perisic will be wrapped up pretty soon maybe as early as tomorrow if a **** load of reports are to be believed over night and this morning. Very happy with that, and to get them over with the lads on tour nice and early. Lol at Madrid wouldn't sell us Morata for 79m but will sell to Milan for 61m. Can't see us doing any deals with them in the future.

so chelsea have backed down over matic?thought they were refusing to negotiate with utd
