The Manchester United Thread

So Hart makes mistakes and cant play the role, but its a mistake to replace him with a keeper who makes mistakes but can play the role.... huh?
From the looks of it the two keepers Citeh have difficulties playing the role as well. The only keeper able currently to do so is Neuer and somehow I don't think he will be arriving anytime soon ;) I would rather change the set up to suit the keeper who is best of a bad bunch. However who's to say Hart can't be a sweeper keeper did Guadiola try him as one (not as far as I know he just told him he wasn't in his plans).

Very quick to describe Ederson as part of a "bad bunch" though mate. Pep's demands are tricky, from the striker right back to the keeper.

And I'd imagine Pep had a firm look at Hart in training before deeming not good enough, that on top of the numerous error-prone displays

Time will tell, wasn't Bravo supposed to be an excellent Sweeper Keeper as well look how he has turned out. A lot of people I know would have preferred to see young Angus Gunn promoted to the first team squad but that was never going to happen.

Yeah but at least this one actually saves shots coming at him, something Bravo seemed to forgot how to do lol

Apart from when he's running off his line ;) or unless Rashford is the STR :)

That's the demands mate, sweeper keeper. If those demands were so heavy on De Gea you'd be seeing errors too. Rashford been finishing really well in pre-season, but off memory he made a few standard saves that I wouldn't be so confident Bravo would make lol

Can I point out Bravo's first game was against Man U and his *** was saved by the forwards (leading to other teams using the same tactics with better luck), Ederson likewise has his first game against United but this time the forwards failed him ;)

*And he's a Brazilian goal keeper.

Just thought I'd add.

Why do you keep saying that Scouse? XD Julio Cesar was good.

I know hence why i said you maybe a bit more withdrawn to criticize lindelof

Why would I want to criticize Lindeloff lol. Apart from losing his footing for that goal Ive not really seen anything for me to think he's bad. With Bailly he was always jumping in, and seemed to be too reliant on his pace to get back after charging in for an interception and missing the ball. Maybe he was just a bit too keen in pre-season trying to impress. I thought he was a red card waiting to happen but he completely proved me wrong.

Lindeloff hasn't really done anything for me that stands out either good or bad, which I suppose isn't a bad thing really.

Its preseason guys. FFS I remember Voronin looking absolutely worldclass during preseason and we all know how that turned out.

He was well protected in a defensive minded side TBF but you're struggling to think of good, let alone great, Brazilian 'keepers through history. There's a long standing joke for a reason that if you can't play football in Brazil they put you in nets. Brazil and Portugal just don't do goalkeepers. (And Pepe Reina aside, PL era Liverpool Football Club but that's a whole other tale!).

Keep reading this lad's a good shot stopper ..... Well, yeah, most 'keepers are as a given. It's everything else that sets them apart. Or not.

Did he? Lol. Genuine question as I don't remember him ever looking good. Let alone WC. Outside of that qualifier in Toulouse on the hottest day ever where I saw his goal back in a nice little bar in Toulouse as it was too frigging hot to stay the stadium for such a mind mumbling sterile game!

God, Andrey Voronin! And people nark at today's players!

*Edit* F ME! 3 seasons that clown stayed! That must of been one of Rafa's ridiculously stupid 5 years deals you could never move anyone on from!

Some of the saves that Ederson made in the CL were really impressive, probably only saw him play a couple games but he made some good saves and think he will be good for city. Although I do hope that the mistake was a sign of things to come

Read somewhere that Ederson's save percentage last season of 82% ranked him 2nd in Europe. So apparently he's a better shot stopper as well as Sweeper Keeper than Hart

He is a flapper though doesn't like to catch crosses, corners or long range efforts as was shown against us with a couple of decent efforts outside the box, that were easily catchable.

Dier just scored for Spurs against PSG.. Spurs pressed high and Dier went all the way and pressed the GK (Trapp) and he cleared the ball straight at Dier and it went in.

Mourinho just confirmed DDG will 100% be a Utd player next season, and can't see him going in the future. And Bale was never on any list he gave to Woodward this season or last.

Also said DDG and Romero will play a half each against Madrid. And will pick them on a match by match basis in the coming season.

Said Shaw will be back start of Sept, Young start of Oct, and Rojo around Christmas.

Said he wants 4 players to complete the balance of the team. No comment when asked about Matic or Dier.

Said TFM, Tuanzebe, Mitchell, Darmian will all start against Madrid. And will play a back 4.
