The Manchester United Thread

How is this only 1?

*Edit* Whomever it was having the meltdown on the Swede. This is helping his case.

Not a bad half, won the ball further up the field after the water break which could have lead to something. Unlucky with the goal, if united don't score I think martial should replace lindgard

For all Lindelof's slating in preseason, he has done pretty well tonight considering what he's up against.

Their goal was offside as well so.. no real blame on him for that.

Clinic from Madrid. As you'd expect, they're the best team in Europe and ways ahead of Utd right now.

Few flashes from Utd but not much more. Lukaku completely isolated. Pogba just strolling around. Only Matic doing any closing down. Everyone else is just sat in and late in reacting. Very fortunate to still be in this.

Needs to change half time and start pressuring back higher up the pitch because that was a doing without the scoreline.

Think Pogba has been the worst player for us this half. Better decision making we could of had a couple ourselves even 3.

I thought he was good until the goal which saw him moved out to the left flank

Not done too much right either. Wrong side of his man. Positioning all over. Dominated the air.

But that goes for 8/9 out of the XI. Big change needed H/T.

Hard to blame Lindelof though, unexpected formation, facing Bale/Benzema and a host of midfield runners. He won't have it harder than this.

Madrid do this to anyone they're facing tonight Scouse, not a whole pile we can do about it other than compete. We've done really well under the circumstances. Very quick start, undone by an offside goal which then saw them control the game with the confidence and class they have.

His decision making has been frustrating as heck. Twice had a player in a loads better position for a shot but blasted it. Has worked hard and put in some good tackles.

True. Like I say, complete clinic from Madrid. But that was to be expected. They're the best team in Europe by far and this isn't the Europa.

But you need to sharpen up the attitude all over and stand up to them or this will get away fast. Lucky it's not 2 or 3 and done already.

Sitting back and not pressuring them is the single worst thing you can do against these. Not helping himself with his tactics at all. Only Matic is getting any pressure on them. And the second half doesn't look to of started any differently.

Far, far too easy that Isco goal.

Evertonians everywhere are currently nodding at Lukaku in a big game snatching at that.

Wtf same old ****, new season, not clinical at all.

This game is over but the defending was a farce for their goal, a one-two and goodbye our defence.
