The Manchester United Thread

I think Mata was just off, Mike said no though? They didn't offer us the best angle, not even in replays. Unless they did post match? Didn't catch it.

Like I said, we dug in and got it. Yes we played nice tidy football for large spells, but how many times did breath taking footbal come to nothing at Old Trafford last season? Do whatever the **** you can, just get that ball in the back of the net. Once you make the breakthrough, they have to come out to play... and that suits us.

Seen a few highlights/ reports just don't look like conceding atm.

What I found interesting was the positiveness of our defensive line, it wasn't deep at all for a side that was playing against Jamie Vardy (remember how he raped Liverpool last season with their high line, Arsenal this season, etc) but I suppose when you have a CB like Bailly, who's as quick a CB in the league (probably give most forwards a run for their money), with that supreme aggression, always on the front foot, always stopping players in their tracks - that highline isn't as risky as it would be with most other clubs. Man's a beast.

Mata was onside. If any part of him was off it was his arm, and going off the rules you cant score with your arm so that doesnt count. I think Fellaini was slightly off to be fair but considering Mata's disallowed goal its swings and roundabouts. Both very hard calls for the linesman to make in real time. Especially Mata's with another player shooting and the keeper saving for the rebound.

I'd love to have a view from the opposite side, and see if Mata's left leg is ahead of play.

Counts for nothing now, just curiousity. The camera deceives sometimes

NBC had the back his boot off FWIW.

But being as Utd won the game, it's all pretty immaterial.

*Edit* That said, even if today and the Arsenal game at Stoke were correct, I don't see how a lino can make an accurate, split second judgement on a hairsbreadth of a gap at full the speed of a PL game? Sounds contradictory if they actually got the decisions right. But there's no way you could see in normal time Lacazettes boot lace off. Or the back of Mata's heal.

What happened to the benefit of the doubt going to the attacking team?

The game at Leicester? Leicester got the bounce from their managerial change, suddenly deciding to be totally up for it again and actually play football. And L'pool were in a real slump of injury's and confidence those couple of months. That's not the example you want to be using given the context.

Mate I remember watching it, Lucas was playing CB in a high line against Jamie Vardy of all people, it was suicidal

And you've just added to the context by saying Lucas was playing CB. The context of everything that night is a bad example to use of a high line defending Vardy.

Which if you read my post, is my point. Not every team have an Eric Bailly. He's like a Varane; athletically gifted CB's, who have insane recovery pace to match their aggressive styles. Perfect high-line CB's, as iffy as I am about high-lines.

They can play in a high Guardiola line, or at the heart of a Tony Pulis bus.. rare profiles.

Just watching a replay of the first half. Carved them open at will with some great stuff at times. Mky been fantastic this season!

Expecting more to come from Mkhi tbh. I know it's ridiculous to say that with 5 assists in 3 games, but he has more to offer. If he's getting numbers like this with what I'd say to be 70% of his game, can't wait until he hits full flow.

Mata just oozes class! Was a great save by Kasparov to deny him first half. Not surprised Kasper saved the peno Lukaku always goes that side and has had a few saved also.

Yeah saw with the graphic he always goes there, he did in the FA cup semi. Someone should note it and tell him to vary it a bit

I doubt Perisic can play LB, so would you take Martial/Rashford, who are both in super form, both using each other as a healthy competitive rival for places, out of the side for him?

We have something good going on here, let's try not to upset it. Main thing is we have a high volume of crosses, when that's the case, something will happen. Even as frustrating as it is, during the game.

Phil jones is only 25, I would have said he was 27/8 he's been around so long. Hopefully he can avoid injury and keep this good form going, him and bailly work well together and as Bailly flies into tackles jones hopefully won't have to as much which should help keep him fit

Nope just get Shaw back!

Yeah, if Martial and Rashford are playing like this, I'm really not that arsed about a winger tbh. Zlatan in to provide more cover. What we need now is the return of Shaw and assess from there.

Lower priorities, but attacking cover/replacement for Valencia too.
