Do think they need to decrease the goal size at least. Amount of 'wonder goals' that are scored because the keeper may not have even been in nets.

u15 boys often beat senior women national teams. Not sexist, just facts

It's nothing new that boys beat women. In field hockey our dutch female NT (top in the world) often practice against u18 and u16. They practice against the boys because they're more physical. However in field hockey the women are tacticly as good as the men. The game still goes quickly. I'd reckon they might be mentally stronger than men (atleast if I compare to the dutch NT). Technically they're limited because they don't have as much power as men, but at what they do they're still great.

At volleyball they atleast do change the field. The net is about 40 cm lower I believe.

I did follow the european womens football cup, because it was in The Netherlands. And the level was obvious lower. Most teams don't dare to play attacking football, because keepers are bad at catching high balls. So they rather just hoof up the ball and hope the keeper ***** up. These things however could be solved pretty easy. If they start developing GK's earlier they get used to all different aspects of football and situations they get into. Altough right now there is too little competition to reach a higher level.

Often in the youth girls aren't allowed to be in the same team as with boys, altough -u10 there isn't much difference physically yet. And those early years are super important to develop your ball feeling.

Right now best thing they could do is keep investing in women's football, specially in youth trainers. Allow girls at young age to play with boys. Change the field probably and maybe the goal, like they do at youth level, since it is obvious that women physically can't compete with men. If it will happen I don't know. The football world is super conservative.

So I got my wish; 4-2-3-1. Tbh, delighted with that team.

Mixture of game-changers (Martial & Lingard) & game managers (Herrera & Carrick) on the bench depending on the second half scenario.

Need an extra CM on now to manage it more comfortably. Soton as expected, throwing the kitchen sink at this.

No idea why Jose hasn't sent on Herrera yet, Soton all over us at the moment.

Edit- Herrera on for Mata to switch to 4-3-3 as I suggested earlier...hopefully see it out now/nick another. Need to finish this like champions.

What an ugly, scrappy, vital WIN.

Deserved the first half lead, but no doubt who the better team was in the second half. Southampton absolutely deserved a point. But like champions would do, we dug in ridiculously deep and saw it out.

Lukaku reaction at the final whistle sums it up; massive 3 points. Teams will go there and struggle this season, no doubt.

This is the type of dirty, gritty 1-0 wins we need if we are to win the league. Not pleasant to watch but we got the 3 points

Big big win that feels like! Defence Defo won us that game. Another goal for big Rom :) Young was good again. Clean sheet for DDG. Though Rashford was quite again.

Idk why we invited so much pressure and made it so difficult in that 2nd half, we offered no attacking incentive whatsoever and it just seemed like we were giving them far too much of the ball considering we were much more comfortable first half.

Ill take the 3 pts but think we need to improve, this could so easily of ended with another 2 pts dropped like at Stoke few weeks back.

3 points on the board yadda, yadda, yadda.
That was horrible negative football from Jose and United.

That was a really uncomfortable match to watch.

Yeh, I foolishly thought we’d got past the whole Mourinho shutting up shop and throwing on more defenders as subs at 70 mins.

I'm sure you've witnessed a few of those on the road to titles.

Give me an off-day with 3 points any day of the week over 20+ shots on target, woodwork hit 4 times & the keeper going home with red hands. Had enough of them last season to last me a life time. This reminded me of the United of old.

More fool you coz that ain’t never gonna stop happening under Mourinho. It’s whats win him god knows how many championships. Difference is this season we have players contributing more in an attacking sense. And a more balanced and better settled team.

You know I was his biggest critic regarding this last season, however, there was clearly no other choice today. They were all over us. Their momentum gradually built from the 46th min onwards. We weren't allowing them, they just simply got in a rhythm and outplayed us man-for-man. It happens.

I think we could've threw on Herrera a lot earlier and try to get back on the saddle, but we left it too late and threw him into a circus. In the end, we had to throw on an extra CB, I saw no other alternative. They were way too confident.
