Honest question, how many times did Poch get his team into semifinal/final or some competition?

Think they got to the Semi final of the FA Cup last year. But was a while before that. No denying he is a good coach. But he’s not managing farmers. And he’s signed good players and has as good a squad as most in the Prem. Despite playing such good football the last 3 seasons. They are not really close to winning anything except from challenging last season, but blowing it in games when it mattered. Season before that they finished 11 points behind and did poor in the cups. And there miles behind this season with the rest of us.

Just seems ems to me that it’s great Spurs when they play well. It’s Poch and Spurs are amazing. But if they lose or don’t do well in a comp it’s aww it’s little old Spurs what do you expect from them.

Some whispers about Alderweireld.... Imagine...

Best CB in the league, it's not up for debate. Imagine him & Bailly together..

He been touted as the replacement for Vinny for 3 years as well, cant see him leaving

Good post I found today on Pogba and the problems he’s having atm. And makes sense with regards to Mourinho admitting that Central Midfield will be the key area of his transfer plans. Was from a Le Harve and massive Pogba fan who has never missed one of his games since being at Le Harve-

Football is a team sports, there isn't a single player out there who is able to do things alone, who can play every roles just because his manager asked him or because he has all the talent of the world, not even Ronaldo and Messi. Everything in football is about combinations, synergy and mutual understanding. Players need roles that suit their qualities and compliment their teammates roles. That's the problem that we have at United, that's the problem that Pogba has at United and had with France.
In the case of France that problem completely vanished when he had Lemar and one of Tolisso/Kanté next to him or when he had Lassana Diarra behind him. And the reason is fairly simple, Tolisso and Kanté are all action players with decent defensive abilities, they can play at Pogba's rhythm without problem, while Lemar and Diarra are football magnets, the game invariably goes through them, they automatically take control of the flow which allows Pogba to concentrate on his impact player abilities.
At United Pogba is supposed to control the flow of the game which isn't one of his main tools, we expose his flaws because we don't have a complimentary set of midfielders, none of them are game managers and weirdly enough even our attacking midfielders are a flawed group, all them are goalscorers none are the creative type, we don't have a Ozil, Hazard, Ribery, Iniesta, Isco, De Bruyne or whoever else, so Pogba has to do it himself which isn't his best role.

I think it is so flawed to say that midfield is not up to back up Pogba. Like Keane told, if you are midfielder you should be up to play in midfield of 2 or 3. Matic and Herrera are not that bad.

Kante and Tolisson are two different players and Matic is much better defensive than Tolisson.

You have Mata for crying out loud. If it comes down to not having players who suit playing together, the blame should go who wanted them or it comes down not (wanting) changing the tactics to facilitate your players.

That's really not true though. Guardiola would not put KDB in a midfield pivot when it's detrimental to his game.

Mourinho is trying to make Pogba something he isn't. And it's having a negative impact on the entire side. He can do a decent job, but we're not looking for decent.

None of this should take away from
The fact that pogba has been rubbish in the last couple of games. But we should be playing 433

Normaly I would agree. But Herrera is that out of form this season when he’s played. 433 with him no doubt would benifit Pogba. But he’s not of the quality of the 2 mentioned far from it. Hence Mourinho wanting to strengthen.

Imo Pogba needs to be doing a **** of a lot more also despite playing in a 2.

I can *SORT OF* see where he's coming from (only sort of) with pursuing with 4-2-3-1, even if I hate it. As if you take either one of Sanchez, Martial, Lingard or Lukaku off for an average McTominay, confidence-stricken Herrera, or, well, Fellaini, you are weakening the side (quality wise) even if it is more balanced.

Moral of the story: Sign a top CM in the summer to play 4-3-3. Whether that's a box-to-box/destroyer type midfielder in Vidal, controlling type in Jorginho, or some extra x-factor in Mil-Savic, get someone in.

Huddersfield presser-

Jose Mourinho has told #MUTV that Eric Bailly is fit and ready for Saturday's @EmiratesFACup tie with Huddersfield, but Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford are ruled out. #MUFC

Mourinho on Pogba
The manager said:

“I think you are nice with your words because when you say a lot of speculation you should say a lot of lies because I accept and can speak on Paul’s behalf without any kind of problem.

Paul accepts he has not been playing well but that’s all and if you want to speak about it that’s one thing and speculation your words makes a little bit of sense but the majority of things you can read and listen, don’t be polite, be objective and say lies.”

Mourinho on responding to defeats
Not in the FA Cup, in the FA Cup last match we went really serious, difficult stadium, opponent living a dream to play against Manchester United and trying to be a giant killer.

“We did it very very serious so obviously Huddersfield is a much better team than Yoevil, obviously they have different ambitions, Yeovil wanted to be a giant killer, Huddersfield wants to progress and try to make something beautiful in the cup.

“So we have to be ready and we played Huddersfield very recently, a couple of weeks ago, we know who they are how they try to play, we lost this season in their stadium so we can’t be caught by surprise.”

Mourinho on Pogba's position
“The position is quite ridiculous to speak about it because I think we have I don’t want to be - what’s the opposition of nice - I don’t want to be nasty with other countries punditry industry but we have here a number here the biggest pundit industry because there are hundreds of them with great background and knowledge in football and I would like somebody to tell me which position you think Pogba played in against Newcastle.

“Any one of you want to tell me.

“Okay midfield, but we played with one number six and numbers eights, or two six and one 10, we play with one six and two eights, we play with Matic as a six, Lingard on the right side of Matic and Pogba on the left side, you know which is the Pogba preferred system? 433? “Do you know Pogba’s favourite position in 433?

“Eight on the left, so it’s easy and honest and objective to say Paul didn’t play well against Newcastle but some of the guys are paid millions, don’t let people read things that are not true, you are paid to read the game and explain the game, don’t say bull****.”

Pogba plays tomorrow
Confirmed by Mourinho.

Havent watched much of United this season but pulled up Herrera stats and his defensive score was in minuses, i was **** surprised.
Last season he was decent.

Mike that what I am trying to say. Mou utilizes his players badly. I understand managers want to play their own way, but then you get players who fit the system also. Was surprised about the Sanchez singing, yes he is amazing player and talent who can take team on his back. But looking at manager tactics and players, its hard to see the fit.

I dont see the way forward (or plan for future), and for United fans, this should be very worrying.

But hey, we can see amazing fight for top 4 until end of season.

U23s: #MUFC v Chelsea - O'Hara; Riley, Olosunde, R. Williams, Borthwick-Jackson; Redmond, Hamilton; Dearnley, Gomes, Chong; Bohui.

Subs: Richardson, Warren, Whelan, Boonen, Buffonge.

3-0 down atm. No surprise though! Make that 4-0. Feel sorry for players like Chong, Gomes, Boonen, Bohui, Buffonge having to play with the likes of Hamilton, Redmond, Olesunde!

Watching Redmond in CM is what I imagine watching Smalling in CM be like!

Final score 4-0 to Chelsea. Chelsea didn't even have to play well because United were so completely tactically inept. United look like a group of individuals who have just been thrown together having never played or trained together before.

From Embargoed part of presser -

Mourinho says Tahith Chong and a few kids has been training with the United-first-team and a youngsters could be named on the bench at Huddersfield. #mufc

Mourinho was asked whether he could promote Chong or playmaker Gomes to the United first-team squad next season, having already clarified he will not make any attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

"It depends what you understand by promotion," Mourinho said. "If, for you, promotion is that they train regularly with us, they are promoted a long time [ago].

Also said central midfield is his top priority in the Summer to replace the players leaving. But more importantly for the balance of the team.

Also stressed there will be absolutely no attacking players signed as he is happy with his options. And players coming through. Wants to concentrate on balance of the team.

Said he wants to keep the squad about the same size maybe smaller to start having more kids on the bench in the future.

Said Bailly is back in the squad for Huddersfield and Herrera and Rashford will be fit for Sevilla.

FFS anyone but Hamilton!!!!!! :@

Paul Pogba will miss today's @EmiratesFACup tie at Huddersfield due to illness. U23s midfielder Ethan Hamilton has taken his place in the squad. #MUFC

"I know he will take my place some day and it is my responsibility to help him."

@Carras16 has admitted @McTominay10 is likely to succeed him in the #MUFC squad in the future.

Tuanzebe starts for Villa :) looks like could be at DM. He’s playing RB and having a fantastic game. Highest rated player on whoscored at HT. Sessegnon hasn’t had a sniff in this game so far.
