The Manchester United Thread

Hearing long serving @ManUtd 'head of athletic development' Tony Strudwick leaving in the summer to become part of Ryan Giggs' backroom team with Wales. Went to club from Blackburn in 2007. Was first-team fitness coach until 2014 @BBC SimonStoney

Not happy how we approached things either. But let’s not pretend Sevilla are some bang average side. There a top Cup side winning 3 Europa league titles recently and regularly tend to beat the top teams in Spain in there cups. Still should of gone for it more at away and defo at home. ..... .

This Sevilla side is nottin' like the side that won three straight Europa Leagues. We faced a top side the third of those in Basle 2 years back. The side we faced this season when we should have wallopped them twice but threw both games away having lead 4 times over the course of them, wasn't a patch on that.

Only one thing cost Utd and that was Mourinho's standard negativity in both games. Having got the draw out there, albeit with a massive amount of luck, to then play for another and penalty's with the hope of breaking and nicking a winner was criminal. The respective stats over both games are cringe-worthy reading for Utd.

About time he looked long and hard at himself instead of excusing and embarrassing the living P out of the club and every last one of you lads the utter ***** he came out with after Tuesday night.

The question we need to ask is if Jose was in charge of City with that squad, would they be playing the football they are (and obviously can do with a manager that lets them play) and run away with the league, or would they be scrapping for first place with us/Liverpool?

We have the squad to be playing far better football. We have individuals that can go out and win games on their own if they are given license to play and to their strengths. But its like Jose wants to stifle us and turn us into some rigid hard to break down side that nicks goals on the counter. Were Man Utd with world class players. Not Stoke. The way we have set up in a lot of games this season, we may as well have Tony Pulis on the touchline on a 10th of Jose's wage.

Bang on robbo. I have little doubt if Guardiola or Klopp were at Utd, you'd be where City are now, playing superb, attacking footy and running away with the league. (Probably not to this extent as City are just having 'one of them' seasons where everything has clicked. But certainly, a good few points lear the top.). de Gea's security to what they'd do with your attacking players .....

Mercifully, you managed to bungle both. (Although Woodward would have had to of changed his 'Galactico' approach with Klopp.).

Jose Mourinho on Alex Ferguson after Porto beat Man Utd in 2004: "He has some top players in the world and they should be doing a lot better than that. You would be really sad if your team gets as clearly dominated as that by an opponent who has been built on maybe 10% of the budget"

Sevilla had a massive clearout after Emery left. Barely the same club anymore.

ROJO SIGNS NEW CONTRACT

Manchester United is delighted to announce that Marcos Rojo has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until June 2021, with the option to extend for a further year.

Rojo, 27, signed for United on 20 August 2014. During his time at the club, he has won an FA Cup, a League Cup, the UEFA Europa League and a Community Shield.

Marcos Rojo said: "Since I joined Manchester United, it has been everything I thought it would be and more. I am extremely happy to extend my stay at this great club. When I joined, my aim was to help the team win trophies and we have done that over the past couple of seasons. I am working hard to get back on the pitch. I would like to thank the fans for their support and the manager for the confidence and help he has given me both on and off the pitch."

Jose Mourinho added: "Marcos has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of seasons, and has always shown great professionalism. Although his injury has kept him sidelined over these past few weeks, Marcos is working hard to return to full fitness. He is always ready to put his body on the line for this club and I am delighted he has signed a new contract."

it’s like Rafa’s ‘facts’ all over. Oh how yers all laughed at that .....

What an embarrassing blert. Be easier if he’s just honestly looked at his own major failings.

Loved it :) Glad he’s up for the fight and the challenge (6) made a lot of good points. Only thing he could of done is which ain’t his style is admit he should of done better against Sevilla over 2 legs. Done the usual thing and deflected most the criticism from the players attention.

Painfully obvious that United will never win the league or CL with Mourinho. Best to ditch him at the end of the season.

A lot of concerned souls here in United thread. And best of all they are not United fans ( or are they, just won't come out - whats the other reason of spending so much time and energy in this thread after all). Thank you guys, your support means a lot. ;)

Good God man NO!

Want him to stay for life! And there’s still the third season breakdown to come which should be EPIC! If it’s not started already.
