The Manchester United Thread

Rumours that Martial won't sign an extension and will look to leave in the summer. Being reported by the dude who first called his transfer to united. Would yous lot be ****** if he left?
The same thing happened with salah, kdb and lukaku. Mourinho is just an idiot, in all honestly. One would think he would learn from past mistakes. Plus, martial has more potential than all 3 when they were at Chelsea. If I was Martial, I would definitely choose to do what is the best for my career and sign for juve or tottenham. At least with any of those clubs, he will have a manger who doesn't drop him after being player of the month and scoring many goals for a out of form and declining 29 year old. I don't want to see him go, but it is best for his career. If a manager will play someone who was out of form for 3 months and derailed our season over a player who was in form and performing very well, it's clear he has no future here, sadly. I will be sad if he leaves, but happy for him because he will be able to showcase his immense ability under a manager who isn't a dinosaur and stifles attackers. The worst scenario would be that we replace martial with Bale, a player who's finished and very injury prone. Or even worse, Perisic, lololol. Inter fans hate his guts and some of you lot were calling out for him in the summer.

Lol if true.

Jose just can't catch a break. Every time he gets a few good results there's always either a bizarre loss or some club drama.

He was also the same guy that reported he wanted to leave last summer only for Martial to tweet it was rubbish. Love the lad as a player has bags of potential. But he rarely has any consistency in his game for a full match. Drifts through games to much for me. Do I want him to leave no. Also wouldn’t be a big miss if he did imo.

Its also not true. Martial wants to stay and the club wants to keep him. Story seems to revolve around Jose refreshing the attack in the summer, as we're linked to a million players, again . Which we really don't need to do.

It's probably some journo in need of cash a bit like the one who is suggesting Liverpool want the Belgian lump midfielder, as if any team who can beat City were that desperate!

I think Wigan would take Fellaini

But that's only according to the media, to be honest the last few months have proven City to be no better than any of the other top English clubs. They've been lucky with results going their way (not just their own but the other teams as well) and in any other season the league would be much closer.

City are undoubtedly the best team in the country, saying anything other than that is recency bias & revisionism at its finest. However, I think the gap *could* have been closer if teams were a little less negative/passive against them over the season. But who cares about the gap, they're worthy champions for consistently being streets ahead of everyone else over the course of the entire season.

Nah. Can't buy that mate. Even aside from them having a season for the ages where most everything has rolled for them, they're a GOOD ways better and stronger than the rest.

They are comfortably better than anything in the league. And more than wealthy champions. But away from being the best ever premier league side

You cant even come close to cementing that over one season IMO. Retain or at dominate over a few seasons.

It's not uncommon for Guardiola sides to choke at this point of the season, mind. Bayern did it every year.

They have the forwards who are worldclass but to be honest the defence still needs work for them to truly be called the best team ever, they don't have a patch on the Liverpool teams of the 70's and 80's nor are they as good yet as the United team of the 90's those teams were consistently good over a period of seasons. Until this City squad can do the same then the jury will have to remain out.

I think, when looking at their defence, it's kind of relative to the rest of the squad.

Given the attacking strengths they have, in comparison their defence looks quite weak, but, they have conceded fewer than anyone else.

As has been shown in their last few games there are ways through, and a lot has to be said for the way teams set up against them, BUT they have had the 'most effective' defence so far this season - can't be argued when you look at the Goals Against column.

They have scored more than any other team so far, so the attack is working. they have conceded fewer than anyone else so the defence must be working.

I agree though with the main point, there has to be a consistency for them to be called 'best ever' - Arsenal's 49-games unbeaten (don't need to be reminded where that run ended!), Liverpool, United etc can all have a greater claim for that title, but with a summer window I can't see City getting 'weaker' if I am honest, and it will be up to others to catch up or catch on.

If someone offered him a challenge in the league I suspect his teams would perform better in Europe

Yeah I agree. The teams must lose quite a bit of sharpness if they (all but) secure the title in April and have only glorified friendlies to play.

If that's true, PL teams would be winning CL consistently last couple of years.
