The Manchester United Thread

I’ll refrain from adding anything on Fellaini, but do people still really believe that? Don’t believe the lazy media twaddle.

I can’t speak on Tottenham, who I don’t watch. But I can on L’pool, who you don’t. And that’s complete lame bunkum the more this side has evolved in all its different facets. Profligacy, abysmal officiating and a thread bare, small squad late mirroring up Europe are what cost L’pool draws that should have been wins last year.

The football and tactics weeen’t an issue at all.
Ok ;)

Marouane Fellaini has signed a new #MUFC contract which runs until June 2020, with the option to extend for a further year.

I am pleased to be continuing my journey as a Manchester United player. I made this decision because I am very happy here. Also, I feel like this team, under Jose, still has a lot we want to achieve. I would like to say a special thank you to Jose and the fans for the faith they show always..

Mourinho: 'I am very happy Marouane Fellaini is staying with us. I always believed in his desire to stay with the club and I am delighted that he has signed a new contract.' #mufc

Exclusive: Timothy Fosu-Mensah has no plans to leave Man United on a permanent transfer, he has a future at Old Trafford said Mourinho. Loan move a possibility. [DeTelegraph]

Marouane Fellaini new deal @ManUtd to 2020 with option for another year. Am told terms are the same as he was initially offered so if he was holding club to ransom it didn’t really work. [BBC]

Right now if we don't sell/buy any more defenders we can choose from 3 different backlines.. and we're still rumored to sign another LB and CB XD
  1. Young - Smalling - Bailly - Valencia
  2. Shaw - Rojo - Lindelöf - Dalot
  3. Blind - Jones - Tuanzebe - Mensah/Darmian?

Kirk started work on Tuesday, and with Stoney still on holiday his first job was to tie up three final players to contracts, bringing the Manchester United squad up to 21. All the names will be announced at a media day this month, as will the identities of the remaining back-room staff.

“Essentially we’ve got 26 or 27 strangers coming together, and within six weeks we need to start getting results,” Kirk said.

IT would be no great surprise if two players Kirk formerly worked with at Hibernian, Kirsty Smith and Lizzie Arnot, reunited with him in Manchester. Both sat on the bench against Celtic last Sunday but didn't come on despite their side being 2-1 down with just seven minutes remaining.

can’t wait to see some live games with the women team. Same goes for the u18s and u23s again this season. Heck just want the friendlies to start!

Tommy Møller Nielsen scout is watching Erling Braun Håland 17yr old STR play for Molde atm. Scored 2 in the opening 15 mins. Been in talks with the club for a little while now. And he’s already been to visit OT and Carrington. Son of Alf Inge Håland.

Make that a 16 min Hat trick. Lol 4 in 20.

Ole Gunnar Solskjear being his manager may have made his son more open to the idea of joining United.

I thought Alf hated United?
More like Roy Keane ;)

Got subbed off after 60 mins. Nearly added a couple more. Is a beast of a young lad and a leftie. Honestly looks like a mini Lukaku. We will defo sign a STR or 2 for the u23s/18s this summer. Already playing for the u19 national side also.

Player said after the match when asked. “It’s nice there here to watch me. I just need to concentrate and do my best.”

Ole Gunnar said. “The time is not now to talk transfer. He has some more big games coming, and the u19 int games. Then the time will be for the talk.”

United Will announce their third signing of the summer transfer window this week. Lee Grant from Stoke City.

Really odd, to me anyway, I'd prefer a young United GK as 3rd choice, but that's just me.

Think the thought is they want the young keepers to play. So may as well sign someone who is homegrown to be third choice and not play instead.

Exactly! Henderson, Romero, O’Hara all to talented to be playing u23s or to be sat as 3rd choice in the squad. That’s why loans have been agreed by all. Plus Romero injury. Just makes perfect sense.

Darmian has confirmed he’s got three offers on the table from Italy. Says the door is open now for him to choose. Expect him and Blind to be gone shortly.

Quotes from Times interview with Rashford on not starting and Jose-

Rashford on not starting regularly at #mufc: “Every player will tell you it's always frustrating when you don’t start. You have to look at the positives - you get 2 extra days' training. It's not stopped me developing. If it had stopped me developing then it's more of a problem. I’m still getting plenty of minutes.”

Does Jose explain? Rashford: "He has 20-25 players. Everyone has different attributes & suits different styles so finding the right balance is a tough job for a manager. He got it right most of the time last season but we need a bit extra to push for the title.” #mufc
