The Manchester United Thread

Personally no. He's more Catalonian than he ever was Argentinian. He's spent most all his life there. Loves the place. Both his kids were born there.

I just find it hard to think any Barcelona president would ever let Barcelona's greatest ever player leave at any point.
More suprised that they are ready and threathing to go full out to court with him.

Bartomeu is taking on the wrong person and signing his own death warrant.

What gets interesting when he's removed, is how long Koeman survives before Xavi returns?

Koeman def won't last. His stance of terminating Suarez's contract didn't go down well in the dressing room according to multiple reports. He really doesn't have a clue what he's up against.

Weird how they would even feel the need to respond to it though and state about the current pandemic situation in relation to summer business.
He could of wrote that himself. It’s got nothing to prove it’s from Utd. And even on the off chance it is they still clearly state they will support the manager by strengthening.

Looking forward to see how he develops. Easily the biggest GK talent we have had come through the academy.

Update from #mufc on Harry Maguire (1/2): ‘An appeal against yesterday’s verdict was lodged this morning by Harry’s legal team. In accordance with the Greek judicial process, the filing of an appeal extinguishes the initial court verdict and nullifies the conviction.‘

(2/2) ‘The appeal has been accepted and will lead to a full retrial in a more senior court. This means that Harry has no criminal record and is once again presumed innocent until proven guilty. Accordingly, he is not subject to any international travel restrictions.’ #mufc

Dean Henderson has signed a new & improved deal at #MUFC until 2025, with the option of a further year

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson agrees new six year deal with @manutd - £120K a week and he’ll compete with De Gea for number one position and not going out on loan.

Great news!

Dean Henderson is a first-choice keeper. Why on earth would he sign and compete with another first-choice keeper in De Gea. Backups are backups for a reason they are not good enough to displace the first choice, especially a specialised position like GK were its detrimental to rotate and you want someone permanent between the sticks to gel and communicate with the back four.

De Gea will be gone by next summer I think, it's the only thing that makes sense. Then you've got Henderson first choice keeper tied down for another 5 years still. 120k doesn't look too bad then.

One thing I really am looking forward to is some authority and communication between goalkeeper and backline, De Gea really lacks any kind of commanding presence in the box. Which for me makes a massive difference to your defence, been saying this for ages, De Gea doesn't give any confidence in the box at all, rarely claims anything.

That’s what I think will happen. Romero will go this Summer and the DDG likely next. With Henderson taking the number 1 spot then Joel or Kover taking the number 2.

How long is De Gea contract? and the wages he is on coupled with his decline no one is going anywhere near him. You either stick by De Gea and hope his form improves or you sell Dean Henderson and get a good fee for him. Dean Henderson is more than good enough to start for a number of top teams, it makes no sense for him to go out on loan again to prove himself or to sit on the bench for a year when he is more than good enough to start. Personally, for me the only way he signed that contract is if he knows he is first choice which begs the question that having De Gea on the bench with his wages is a black hole itself.

You may have a point about clubs wanting him, but personally felt De Gea has always held himself to a level where he wouldn't outstay his welcome if he knew he wasn't performing. I think he'd want that move away, especially to get back to Spain and live with his wife if this season goes as badly as the last for him. I can't see him sticking around unless he has a massive resurgence of form.

First team signings apart. I’m happy with how the end of season has gone so far. 5 great signings for the women’s team. 6 top talents and potentially 2 more signed for the academy plus good loan moves happening. New contract for Henderson. New one for Pogba incoming. And more importantly Sanchez gone.
