The Manchester United Thread

🚨 JUST IN: Sir Jim Ratcliffe has a clear path to take majority control of Manchester United from the Glazers in the second half of 2029. Under the club’s $550m June refinancing, a “Stadium Event” lets United repay those loans penalty-free from 10 June 2029; combined with the revolving credit facility expiring at the end of that year, this creates a window to clear the remaining Glazer leveraged-buyout debt and potentially shift it onto Ineos’s books if Ratcliffe lifts his 28.94% stake.

That would free United’s balance sheet and unlock far more borrowing capacity for a £2–3bn stadium, for which land has already been bought. It still depends on the Glazers selling and Ineos (already carrying over £10bn of net debt) being willing and able to take on more leverage.

Two ways of looking at it both bad in the long term, 1st if it happens the club gets rid of the Glazers but keeps Ratcliffe who hasn't exactly proven to be any good. 2. It gets rid of the debt but still leaves Ratcliffe in charge.

Says something when even the Glazers are calling the tax dodging **** out.
