This story may be a little bit different to the usual stories around here in the way that the story does not follow a manager, nor does it follow a player. It follows the board of directors at Liverpool FC, the New England Sports Ventures. A lot of decisions go into this story, such as finances, manager changes, and transfer budgets. Can NESV get Liverpool back into league contention, and back into European domination? We start this story on the
6th of July 2010 and the world is currently waiting on the outcome of the Gillette & Hicks vs Liverpool FC court verdict.

Liverpool and Hodgson part company.

Liverpool’s new owners have confirmed that Roy Hodgson will not be continuing his job at the club. They released a statement wishing Roy all the best. There was speculation to whether NESV had their own ideas for management and that has now been confirmed as they pursue their search for a new manager. Roy Hodgson was unsurprisingly upset with the decision and had this to say;

"I’m very disappointed as you can imagine, I thought I was deserving of a chance but unfortunately that’s the way things work in football sometimes."

Dalglish hired as Liverpool Manager -

Kenny Dalglish has today been unveiled as the new Liverpool manager. He has been given a one year contract by John W. Henry. John had this to say;
"We are very happy that Kenny has shown an interest in the job and we have given him the chance to take it. We’ve offered Kenny a year in the role and will come to a review of his time in charge come the end of the season.”

Board Confidence - Letter from John W. Henry

Hi Kenny, we’re delighted to have you on board. We’re going to give you until the end of the season to show us what you’ve got. We will review your achievements come the end of the season.

Here are our aims for the season;
Premier League – Top 4
Europa League – Reach The Quarter-Finals Minimum
FA Cup – Quarter-Finals Minimum

To do this we are going to give you 20 million pounds for transfers. However, should you get rid of any players you will receive 100% of the funds to go straight back into transfers.
Thanks, John.
