125 Years of Genoa - New manager appointed to lead club forward
View attachment 13626
Genoa CFC have today announced on their 125th anniversary, that they have appointed English born Italian Cristian Ferri as their new manager. Ferri becomes the youngest manager ever in Serie A, at just 24, as he never had too much of a playing career to back up his managerial ability. While Genoa have been relegated even from Italy's second division, the Serie B, their history suggests that they will continue in a positive manner and the Genoa chairman has already stated the high expectations on the new manager, especially at such a prestigious time in Genoa's history.

It is clear that the Italian side has a glittering history, with 9 Serie A titles to their name. It has, however, been a long time since that success occurred, with a 4th placed finish in 1990/91 their best finish for 75 years. Ferri hopes to change this, he's been given a solid budget by the Genoa board, with apparently 35.3m in the bank to spend for Ferri. He's got big weight on his shoulders, soon we'll find out if he can live up to the billing.
