Strong rumours that he could be taking Smith from you guys, tho dependent on wages. I personally doubt he'll come but you never know. What do you guys rate him like now? I've heard people say he was great when you got promoted from Championship but been injured and been **** since then. Opinions?

The bond between Ben Arfa and Cabaye will be pricelss, maybe Ben Arfa suggested him? They'll make the backbone of the Newcastle line-up. So excited at seeing Arfa again, started off proimisingly and the suffered that unfortunate injury. I love Newcastle, half of my family are Geordies so I've followed then since I was small, you could say they're my 'second team'

Saw this earlier on. You stole him from under Liverpool's noses so well done on that. Hope he does well for you.

heard he failed a medical at Liverpool...

Meh, Ba apparently failed a medical at stoke last season, he looked to do alright for West Ham. :)

Hopefully Liverpools loss is our gain. :D He's a good player, but has had his problems with injuries over the last few years... aka his whole career lol.

Read somewhere that player said it was not coz of failed medical but coz of personal terms the deal failed..

Two fantastic free transfers, probably the top two players available on frees this summer. This could mean Jonas moving to the right, which gives him the chance to cut inside more, rather than trying to deliver crosses which he is useless at.

According to the Sun, Sevilla are after Fab Coloccini. Obviously, not the most reliable source, but would be a huge loss if true. We still need a top striker and a central defender in.

Marveaux didn't fail his medical, Liverpool couldn't/didn't want to match Newcastle's late contract offer.

its a bit fishty tho... if he failed a medical at Liverpool then he signed for Newcastle the next day... i think the deal with Pool just fell thru

Where are we going to play BHA? Behind Ba?

I am loving these signings......Does anyone know about Gervinho, I heard we were intrested but has cooled down lately!!??

Pardew has said that he wants to play Ben Arfa in behind a lone striker, so we'll probably be primarily playing a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1. I doubt/hope Ba won't be our primary striker though, just there for quality competition/cover, and can be used in a 2 to 3 man strike force.

Looks set for Arsenal. We supposedly have Barnetta in town though, plus maybe another player (could be Erdinç).

I think HBA will be used playing just behind a striker, Ba could certainly play as a lone striker, as he has pace, strength and heading ability, and with someone like Hatem feeding him, and Marveaux and Jonas(if he isn't sold, and there is a lot of interest in him) playing the ball into the box.

Pardew said last season he wanted to utilise Ben Arfa as playing just off the striker, meaning Ba will probably be lone striker

looks like we meet again on the first day of the season

better not be another 4-4 lol

Am I the only Toon fan getting excited, Zog apparently in talks, a huge bid for a striker, three top signings in?
