Excellent. Thanks for the link and the recommendations. I will definitely be following.

Good luck, not a bad layout for a first timer
Thank you very much.

Monthly Review: January

Janua
ry was an exceptional month for results, but awful for squad injuries. Leeds have been quite consistent considering the entire year has seen nothing but injuries each month. The boys won three matches, lost one, and drew two. Although they were knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of the Championship's top team, Hull City, they battled hard and stayed on course despite losing four players to major injury.

RESULTS

Leeds 2 - 2 Hull (FA Cup, Round 3)
Leeds 2 - 0 Bristol City (Championship)
Hull 3 - 2 Leeds (FA Cup, Round 3 replay)
QPR 1 - 1 Leeds (Championship)
Leeds 0 - 1 Hull (Championship)
Watford 1 - 2 Leeds (Championship)

Monthly Review: February

February was another average month for the squad, as they pulled in three wins
and two losses. One goal losses to Norwich on the road and Leicester at home proved to be heartbreakers for the boys, as both game winning goals came in the last 15 minutes of play.

The newcomers, Walter Baseggio and Cagri Kodalak, were vital parts of the run down Leeds side. Kodalak, playing off the bench and as an occasional starter at left back, is poised to become an excellent player some day. A shining starlet for his Under-19 Turkish side, he can only get better with more first team football. Baseggio, a seasoned Belgian veteran, has done well in his chance to play first team as he has taken over in a rotation with Neil Kilkenny and Bradley Johnson for a spot in the central midfield. The key to Leeds' success has been teamwork, and if the squad hopes to be a Premiership side in 2010, they'll need to continue to have each others' backs.

RESULTS

Leeds 1 - 2 Burnley (Championship)
Leeds 2 - 1 Leicester (Championship)
Millwall 1 - 2 Leeds (Championship)
Norwich 2 - 1 Leeds (Championship)
Leeds 3 - 2 Barnsley (Championship)

Monthly Review: March

March was a month for Leeds to be happy about. Except for a heartbreaking loss to Derby away from home, Leeds were on form in the month of March with three wins, one loss, and two draws. The icing on the cake was a major 4-1 home victory against Cardiff City, who could not stop the attack of Leeds. The player of the month, without a doubt, was Neil Kilkenny who saw his average match rating for the month of March hit 8.2 and helped put away several key goals with spectacular ball handling in the midfield. With only a few games to go before the promotion playoffs begin, Leeds are looking to finish this campaign in style.

RESULTS

Doncaster 0 - 1 Leeds (Championship)
Leeds 1 - 1 Portsmouth (Championship)
Derby 1 - 2 Leeds (Championship)
Reading 1 - 1 Leeds (Championship)
Leeds 4 - 1 Cardiff (Championship)
Leeds 2 - 2 Middlesbrough (Championship)

Monthly Review: April

Leeds finished off the season in pretty convincing fashion, without a loss and with an impressive five goal drubbing of Crystal Palace. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Leeds' player of the month, was their savior for the month of April, as he hardly let in any goals and was aggressive in between the posts. Leeds qualified for a playoff spot and will face Derby in the first leg of the promotion playoff campaign.

RESULTS

Leeds 3 - 0 Preston (Championship)
Leeds 2 - 2 Swansea (Championship)
Leeds 5 - 0 Crystal Palace (Championship)
Coventry 1 - 1 Leeds (Championship)
Leeds 1 - 1 Ipswich (Championship)

Leeds 1, Derby 0

Robert Snodgrass (8')

Neil Kilkenny shakes off two defenders just outside the box and slides the ball through the rest of the defense. Robert Snodgrass is waiting just behind the defense and beats his man to slide the right footed shot past the keeper for an early 1-0 lead.

Leeds 2, Derby 0

Marlon Harewood (26')

Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny play a little passing game in the midfield between one another, before giving the ball to Robert Snodgrass on the left wing. He waits for Harewood to set himself in front of the defense and then slides the ball through three defenders perfectly for Harewood to one time it into the top right corner of the net.

FINAL

Leeds United 2 - 0 Derby County

Leeds 0 (2), Derby 1 (1)
Tomasz Cywka (59')
Paul Green dances at the top of the box around a few defenders before making a direct pass to Tomasz Cywka. Cywka turns on his heel right away and left foots a shot right past the outstretched hand of Kasper Schmeichel and into the top left corner of the goal.

Leeds 0 (2), Derby 2 (2)
Sean McAllister (81')
Paul Green does another bit of magic around two defenders before sliding a ball through another defender to Sean McAllister. McAllister uses his strength and positioning to keep the defense back and right foots a shot on goal. Kasper Schmeichel gets his finger tips on it but it deflects right into the right side of the goal and Derby ties it.

Leeds 1 (3), Derby 2 (2)
Robert Snodgrass (87')
Two substitutions seem to have paid off for Leeds, as Walter Beseggio holds the ball up in the center of the midfield. He gives a hard direct pass to Mike Grell waiting at the top of the box who, without hesitation, backheels the ball through two defenders where Robert Snodgrass was waiting. He narrowly avoids suspicions of offsides and patiently puts the ball into the back left side of the net.

FINAL
Leeds United (3) 1 - 2 (2) Derby County

Leeds 0, Burnley 1

Jay Rodriguez (19')
Burnley takes the corner and it is cleared by Leigh Bromby. Jay Rodriguez picks it up, takes on two defenders, and right foots one past Kasper Schmeichel into the right bottom side of the goal. Burnley take the early leed and Leeds will have to get stronger now.

Leeds 1, Burnley 1
Lacina Traore (41', penalty)
Lacina Traore takes David Edgar one on one down the left side. Traore crosses in at the box and gets ahead, so Edgar tries to tackle him from behind and takes Traore down in a dangerous position. The referee points to the spot and Leeds are awarded a penalty. Traore steps up to take the penalty. He confidently looks right into the eyes of the keeper, and then he blasts it into the top left corner.

Leeds 2, Burnley 1
Marlon Harewood (45')
Leeds show off a tremendous display of passing technique as the ball is passed at least ten times between Neil Kilkenny, Robert Snodgrass, Michael Ball, and Marlon Harewood. The final three passes go from Kilkenny who sends a through ball down the left side to Snodgrass who shuffles the ball into a streaking Marlon Harewood. Harewood makes a great technical move to avoid the charging keeper and slides it in unscathed. The Leeds supporting section goes insane as Harewood slides belly first through the grass and is covered by his teammtes.

FINAL
Leeds United 2 - 1 Derby County

It's a good story but sending 21million seems too much to be realistic with that much you should really walk the league buy belarus international vershovtsev or something hard to spell look on my story is a great championship and premiership player

$21 mill does seem steep. I don't know why I was given such a huge amount of money to work with, but I spent it so whatever. Thanks for the recommendation, too.

Leeds United: Back to the Premiership

Bradley Johnson celebrates with a fan on the pitch

Leeds, West Yorkshire --
It was hard to walk through Leeds yesterday without being bombarded by some of the most passionate football fans in all the world. After their 2-1 defeat over Burnley at Wembley, Leeds United will be promoted back to the Premiership.

"We truly believed we belonged back up with the big boys and we showed everyone why," said first year boss John Lopiano. "This should come as a shock to nobody. The Peacocks are back."

After finishing fifth in the Championship and earning a playoff spot, they trampled Derby and Burnley en route to promotion. It was a tough road, but the squad would have nobody believe it was impossible.

"From day one, if we didn't earn promotion then the season was a failure," said Leeds central midfielder Bradley Johnson. "Simple as that. We belong in the Premiership and now we have all of next season to prove why."

I feel like I need to abandon this story. My first season in the Premier League, and I was given a transfer budget of $58 million. That's just not realistic at all. I was able to sign a couple of good players, but it's just not as fun, realistic, or interesting if I'm going to be be a top tier team in my second season.
